Not meaning to disrespect a mod,seeing as im grateful to have the site,and ppl like urself for running it.
But in reality this is one of the most constructive posts i have ever made....if we have a bunch of yes ppl around, that doesnt help anybody at all. if i were a producer on here, i could get a rough idea of what ppl are not feeling. as the music evolves...so will taste too.
this thread is as useful as those tunes i like threads, that get posted 10 x a day.
at least its nice to know that we are not a bunch of zombies on here, and that everybody dont like certain stuff. and honesty will make this scene alot stronger than people snaking.

I think the point is that as a forum of collective interest (ie: Dubstep), we're all here for what we like rather than what we don't like. Thread like this have the possibility of really pissing people and in the case of some producers really cutting to the bone. This isn't a major label led, factory song written scene, most, if not all producers who's tunes I buy and play post on here and it takes a lot of guts and a fair amount of cash to put out a release. To have a thread dedicated to telling certain producers that people don't like their stuff is fucking lame and does no good for the scene what so ever. If you don't like it then don't buy it, there's no need to go telling people you don't like it.

PS: I hope to see your dubs posted for our critique once you get your new copy of reason installed.

Yep.

:)

I mean, shouldn't producers be making music they like, rather than making music they think other people will like? People aren't making music to entertain you, Feasible. Hopefully, they're making something that means something to them and enjoying what they're doing, otherwise it's a fairly empty exercise.

I'm always impressed by how people handle themselves in the dubs forum here. If they don't feel something, they generally just don't respond. If your production is a bit 'off', people will say something if they catch it. Good stuff.

But anyway. Grrrr, bollocks. If you think Dubstep is too slow, go and put some Hard House or Breakbeat on.

I mean, I personally think that Ambient is way too swirly and doesn't have enough drums and distorted guitar in it. Waaaah! I want it to sound more like Gabba. Waaaah!

I do keep wondering why a lot of producers make music that sounds like somebody else though (not just dubstep naturally) - is it a tribute of sorts, a lack of imagination or are they already making music that they think will sell based on what's sold previously?

A lot of what gets released does seem to be more based on what's already popular than breaking any new ground but then I just look for other music that does do something for me. I think apart from that horrible 8 bit thing that's coming out on Hyperdub, I can't remember ever posting anything negative about a tune although I may offer my opinion on the direction of the sound's progression.
Hmm....

Be glad there's one place in the world
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to go where people know,
People are all the same;
You want to go where everybody knows your name.

Fuck it! I knew Gambient was too good to last. Now, I've got to put up with all the Ambba purists telling me how Ambba is better than Gambient because it follows the original sound of Gambient before it got too coffee table.

I'm going to splinter from Gambient to form Minimal Gambient, because Gambient is getting too commercial and melodic now.

It's been five minutes since it was invented and I'm bored already. Dronecore is really pushing the sound in new directions so I'll probably make out I'm into that for ten minutes now. Actually that's dull already, fuck it

Or maybe coffee table gabba might be a good thing. Nice bit of fender rhodes works wonders with sprinklings of drill noise and I think coffee's always had more of a 280bpm vibe about it. Why isn't there a gabba breakfast show on the radio, it'd beat the shit out of Moylesy (and let's face it, something should)

I agree with that, but saying although everyone else loves it you personally aren't really feeling Spongebob is kind of different from going and laying into a new producer in the dubs forum.

I'd agree with Stanton except that almost everyone in this thread has been a) talking about tunes that are absolutely massive, have ten page appreciation threads, all of that producer's other tunes are also massive and so on b) been fairly polite and respectful ie said "I'm not feeling this tune" rather than "this tune fukken suks man that producer blows goats what a wanker etc" and / or c) been fairly nonspecific eg "I don't really like reggae samples." As it is, the only person who could really feel personally hurt by the response to this thread is Feasible himself.

Dronecore?!?!?! I'm going to take your Dronecore and put my own spin on it. Clonecore. It's going to be millions of near-identical tracks and only true music lovers can tell the difference between them.

Coffee Table Gabba is clown waste, so I'm fusing it with proto-Punk and Hick Hop.

10bpm Chillcore for the comedown, all tracks must last longer than 4 hours and whale noises are mandatory.

And i actually coined the term Gambient and patented it so you both owe me 70p.
