Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
some feedback:
@cyclopian: really liked this one, you should mess with melodies more often
the sound design and mixdown are just the right amount of grittiness. not too fond of the trappy hi-hats tho
it could also have more of a sense of progression,like introduce a new element after the breakdown, maybe mute some elements in some sections and break the beat sometimes?
@zeeradd: nice dubby stepper. i agree the sub (the one coming in around 1:00) could use some work, it sounds somewhat undefined. i would suggest going for a more jumping bassline to accentuate the dub influence (like dum-dum-dum-dum instead of duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum). hell just lift the bassline off a well known riddim, replicate it in midi, pitch accordingly and voila
aside from that can't point anything else, mixdown is solid (at least on my headphones) and the percussions are really good as is imo
@knobgoblin: strange listening experience, was interesting to have read your description of how every element had been made in advance, appreciating the work that went in the sound design
it does feel a bit samey at times for an 8min long piece tho, even something like muting the glitchy percussions at time and drop them back would help in that regard imo
mixdown wise, it feels to me like the chords could be just a tad more quiet, they seem to overpower the rest maybe just my headphones tho
@hubb:put that shit on soundcloud son aint nobody got time for that
mmm x3: i was wondering when you would drop a mean hectic amen on this baby, not an amen break, but close enough. you should have kept the samples playin on with the break tho imo
jurassic: really feeling this one. this aphex twin-like synth really gets me. maybe the drums/foley could gel a bit better with the other elements tho or maybe thats just me.
not quite sure about the synth you bring in around 3:00, sounds a bit out of place imo.

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
short feedback
@cyclopian
really nice sound in the intro i think i used it somewhere too haha but cant remember where
drops definitly nice. i like that its bit rough.
maybe just bit more room for the snare and bassdrum?
but sounds good though warm
i guess its trapesc and dubesc but still classy and bit idm too with all those melodies
hm sounds good wouldnt change much
this part at the end could be a nice bridge though maybe make a short break bring this melody and back to the beat
ah i remember nice loop it is :3
@RADD
dig the dub effects
yeah sounds nice the sub could be more mono or sth? hard to tell but i like the opening of the bass every now and then
yeah def promising though very good use of effects
maybe as you said just try to rebuild the sub or give it some tube or sth on top?
or one octave lower hm but i think it hits pretty low
sounds better than you think maybe just some more tweaks and stuff but its a good tune
@knobgoblin
ah sounds tight very oldschool. like those wierd dub stabs alot
but yeah its not my style anymore but i can appreciate it. maybe you could bring some melody in the stabs at an earlier stage. i personally would shorten it maybe a bit but thats just me. maybe add some counter hi hats or triblets and stuff ?
@hubb
cleanshirt
lol the samples :3 sounds nice sounds bit like a old kelpe beat. yeah i dunno maybe bit longer than its done i like the melodies that come in later
jurassic
very nice bassdrum :3 yeah dig this more i think right from the start very atmospheric
beat is very tight. i like all those noises layered too
yeah the synth at 3.00 i agree maybe dif place or more melodic. does fit but not as smooth as the rest i think its not even needed. def nice idm tune would drop this short synth bit ore change it tiny bit and than you are done
mmmx3
lol haha yeah i always like wierd songs
nice flip haha yeah the distorted dnb bit :3
the end coudl be a "real" tune though

Feedbackback
KnobGoblin -moddub
Very cool design. I really like everything about it but to me it's not a song yet. it's more like a backdrop for something else. I don't think it needs a theme or anything but it functions more like an installation or something, in how it's almost static.
Zeer - laika
Pretty straigt forward tune. It's fine as it is. But the beat is somewhat light - like it has been high passed slightly too much or there was notched out slightly too much of the 'weight'.
It still feel finished though - so maybe remix it or something if you want it to change much.
Just one opinion from a weirdo though
Cyclopian -$
I like the sound choices and design. It goes together and it feels adventurous. Going somewhere 'exotic'. It's very good work - like it's it's own little world.
I'm not feeling the half time drums for this tune. It screams to me that the drums need to pick of the 'edits' pacing. But that's what listening to too much jungle and breakcore gets you - and not fair in the sense of critique - only a taste issue but it still hits me that way so I thought I'd put that out there
Probably like cooking with chili all the time.
bud - uk2 pound 3
would go perfectly for a video game you just completed.
Like if there was a bit in Final Fantasy where everything had just been saved and the good guys won - - then this would play ontop of helicopter shots of the freed city. Slightly cheesey but it holds it's own.

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
I have a tuna with some dodgy mixing and I don't want to put it on soundcloud. Am I banned?
I'm over soundcloud and I have my own server to host from. Most modern browsers will stream mp3's.
