Man I wish I remembered the name of the synths they used to use. Read about it on here in 07. I'd never heard of them. They were these whack ass rompler kind of things. Looked like fisher price, but it was THE sound, that canned cheezy kind string sound that was the basis of grime.
Sound Fonts is a great suggestion. Cheezier the better.

Doesn't get much more cheese than some of the early E-Mu romplers.
