MALA AND GARAGE

This is a mix I've wanted to do to for a while - mainly because I wanted to listen to it . Yes, this is the sort of thing OneMan does so well, and has been doing for ages, but I think this is still really worth doing. Mala in particular has always had a really strong garage swing and this really brings it out. All classic tunes obviously - it starts deep and heavy, slowly moves up to the really intense section around Mountain Dread March, and then moves nicely into a load of 4x4 garage.

Enjoy - it's here: http://www.grievousangel.net/GAMixes/Ma ... _Angel.mp3

320K MP3; 132Mb

Tracklisting:

Groove Chronicles: Life is what you make it
Mala: Hunter
Groove Chronicles: Faith In You
Mala: Lean Forward
El-B: Beautiful Music
Mala: Bury da Bwoy
Groove Chronicles: Masterplan
Mala: Learn
Groove Chronicles: Black Puppet
Mala: Mountain Dread March
Same People: Dangerous (Crazy Bank Mix)
Mala: Anti War Dub
Wide Boys: She's The One
Mala: Left leg out
It's a new dawn
Mala: Alicia
Its a new dawn

100% original vinyl mix. March 2013.

Just catching up here and wanted to share some info about the Maribor in Dub mix.

It's all incredible new music from new artist Maribor. I’ve loved his tunes for ages because they’re so inspiring to DJ with, so I have done an “in dub” mix to showcase how good they are.

It’s here:

http://www.grievousangel.net/GAMixes/Ma ... _FINAL.mp3

Maribor runs the excellent Badimup records (http://www.badimup.com) which has had amazing releases from stars like Wen, Facta, Slaven and Deafblind, on both vinyl and digital. He’s a key member of the south coast / Margate scene that has given us Wen and Etch, as well as J-One, Nomis, LKD etc. For my money this is the hottest scene in the country right now, so much talent.

Maribor does a load of inter-related styles that are all really well produced and really danceable - roughneck r’n’b cut-ups, nu-grime bass work outs, sweet 2step rollers, and all of his tracks are both interesting and super-enjoyable. This mix shows all sides of his work. Starting with his incredible remix of Tinashe’s vulnerable, we flow into grime, and then into peak time UK house vocal tunes (Maribor’s almost-famous refixes of Heard It All Before and Sincere) before smashing into the heavy r’n’b cut ups. Then we close with some of the sweetest, lushest, darkest 2step imaginable.

This is the latest in a long line of In Dub mixes of garage, dubstep, jungle, house and reggae that I’ve done, including the Margins Music Redux mix cd for Blackdown and Dusk and the recent Wen In Dub mix CD. Next up is the Etch In Dub mix CD. There’s lots more Grievous Angel mixes at blog.grievousangel.net/mixes.

I love this music, I think everyone should be getting into this music, so please check out Maribor and this mix, tweet it, share it etc :)

Big up

Yeah the Wen CD went out. We did 100 copies and Keysound's distributor sent them out at random with copies of Wen's Signals CD. They were really nice :)

I did that mix way back, maybe four years ago, long before any of that stuff got released, just after Blackdown started pushing Wen. I've been hammering that mix ever since and just wanted to get it out there as an actual release.

I might share the file at some point but it depends on Martin and Owen.

Next up is an Etch mix CD that I did a couple of years ago but still sounds really nice, slightly different flavour to the Soundman Chronicles stuff.

Anyone who likes Wen and Etch really needs to check out the Marabor mix, they're absolutely part of the same scene.

Next mix for me is a tribute to J_One, another guy in the Margate / South Coast scene. He's an absolutely incredible producer, absolute pillar of the scene who does both abstract transcendant dub 2 step and slinky heavy rollers.

Seriously, Margate / Ramsgate is like Croydon in 2005, tiny place with a ridiculous amount of talent, I played there on Friday and the productions people were playing were incredible.

The comparison to croydon 05 is about as big a compliment as you can get.
Humbled tbh.

We all just get together and push each other regularly.

Big up Paul!

Croydon comparison is one of the best compliments this place could ever have.

Big up Paul, LKD, Wen, Maribars, J-One, Lex and all the other brehs round here! All continuous inspirations. :Q: :Q: :Q: :Q:
