I know that it's not dubstep, but any ideas?
Anyone know what they're using? Sounds like it's a tom sample or something but has a real aggressive nature to it. Comes in around 1:18

New Disclosure track bass?
Re: New Disclosure track bass?
Interesting idea on the tom sample, I certainly wouldn't put it past them and it does sound that way when you hear it tuning down before the drop.
However if it is a tom sample i'd say its synthesized as opposed to a real tom.
If i was to approach it i'd go with a saw wave with a really quick decay like a short pluck sound, then low-pass filter with some resonance and distortion/bit-crushing after. And then more filtering on top to get rid of the undesirables. You would be surprised how much you can change the sound of a saw wave just by switching about the order of your filters and distortion inside massive.
Also disclosure have a habit of taking low/deep sounds you normally wouldn't put reverb on and putting some on just the highest frequencies of the sound to spread it out in the stereo mix.
That's my guess, could be totally wrong, could be a nexus preset for all i know but that's my 2 cents anyway!
