I found sine waves tuned a fifth apart, with the top one a little flat, sounds pretty heavy.test_recordings wrote:Tbh frequency is only part of the sound, harmonics play a bit part. I don't make a separate sub, just one harmonic rich wave then filter it on the synth ui then EQ it after if necessary.
The key isn't so important as the frequencies in the wave for heaviness imo

But then that's not a sub is it. That's just silly. I'd keel my root note separate IMO
Re: Dubstep in the key of?
Well, it'd be a sound that contains a sub. Sub doesn't have to be yellow.

You could low pass it for the sub AND high pass it for the 'air' with parallel filters. That's generally how I make my basses, don't see the point of separating them out if its not necessarySamuel_L_Damnson wrote:But then that's not a sub is it. That's just silly. I'd keel my root note separate IMO

I think ur better off keeping it separate because its easier to add fx and stuff the the none sub portion.

I like gradual applications of FX across the freq range though so I split it in to bands
