The Red Shoes- Music wanted

Post by elex » Mon Nov 05, 2007 11:36 am

Hello,
My name is Alex and I am a film student in Manchester. I am in my third year and am starting work on my final project.
My final film is going to be a modern adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale 'The Red Shoes'. The film is going to have no dialogue and the story is going to be told through dance, image and music.
The basic story is about a young girl who is given a pair of red shoes which make her dance amazingly. The only problem is, when she trys to stop, she cant and she eventually dances herself to death. Im sure the metaphores are more than obvious to you lot

The film is going to be only 10 minutes and the music is going to be all dance music. I hope to have a small bit of DnB, some Breaks, some house/electro and of course some Dub Step. The different styles will corespond to the story (eg. when all is amazing and happy and the girl has just found the shoes we will be using some DnB, when she has had the shoes for a while and she is tired, battered etc. we will use glitched out broken beats). The final sound for the film will be wall to wall dance music- mixed where poss.

This is where you guys come in.....

I need some people who are willing to write some original music that I can use in my film. There is no money in it at the moment but I hope once the film is done to encorporate it into a club night which has VJ's (this might mean there is a small amount of money to be made). I will also be screening it at film festivals up and down the country and sending it to Channel 4.

At the moment I have Groove Allegiance writing me some original material, Baobinga + ID have said i can use some of their back catalogue, Boss Man Chief (s.london breaks producers) writing original material and Steve Thorpe also writing some original material. (these guys are obviously all breaks at the moment- this is why I need some of you lot!)

Obviously the more people I have on board the better. Is anyone interested?

Thank you

:D
