If truth is beauty then this album is most definitely not 'Untrue'. Ya get me?

Just picked it up this morning from a nice spot in Zavvi (old Virgin Megastore) at Tottenham Court Road.

So not disappointing.. :U: :U: :U:

i think one of the most compelling aspects of both "Untrue" and its predecessor is the way that it works so successfully as an album more than a collection of songs. this is evident on 'Ghost Hardware' which sounds so much better when slotted into an album format of Burials other productions.

inspiring, challenging and definatley beautiful - album of the year!

tone.def wrote:haven't received my copy yet, but have listened to clips on amazon, sotu, and bleep etc. honestly i'm digging it even more than the first album. i always wondered how burial would top that but "untrue" does it, and the direction he's gone in makes so much sense.

in interviews he always mention how aggro and unsexy underground club music had become, so it only makes sense that he's injected a bit of that sexiness and rhythm back into the mix. "unite" was just the first taste of that (simple 2step rhythms and vocals).

burial is in a league of his own, above and beyond "dubstep-as-usual." frankly the genre seems to have become a bit formulaic, predictable, and vapid but burial continues to push the envelope. no other artist in this genre makes me stop and actually *listen* like burial. no other artist's music resonates as much, or hits that nerve like burial. haven't really felt that since hearing goldie's "timeless" for the first time over 10 years ago. much respect to burial for that.
well said mate

All thumbs up for Hyperdub & Boomkat releasing the mp3/flac-release simultaneously.

Checked my mailbox about 30 mins ago and nothing. Not even a "you weren't in, come pick it up" notice... not good

Surely the post should have come by now!!

how many shit-y it sounds?
 will try to listen it backwards, played it so many times that will try some experimental ways.
then will try to rewinded it. aha
Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?

Went down the post office and demanded it off them. DTS Cd? Not letting me rip it for mp3 player listening, fair cop, but i bought it on vinyl and cd, can't really be shelling out for the mp3 now.

Grr...

Absolutely amazing album though, Near Dark is perfection

Interesting. Was going to buy the CD but might go for the FLAC if that's the case.

downloaded it asap when i got home this morning. been waiting all weekend for today. i must say i know i will not be listening to anything else for the next week at least. im crazy about it!

archangel def my fav track of 2007 i think. i wanna hear this one out somewhere ..very very loud.

had to share it with the boyfriend. he even left work to come pick it up he was so excited.

dont know why or how there could be any haters. didnt bother reading the whole thread. dont know why people are scared to say anything or discuss it. i hate when theres hype like that. just accept it for what it is...an amazing amazing piece of work. hands down album of the year. i find it to be pretty upbeat and happy...very happy emotional. if that makes sense.

just my stupid opinion on it.

Oh my fucking gosh, homeless.... That is insane. And i love raver so much, i remember reading / hearing someone talk about burial saying "Yeah its great, but where is the 4x4 drumbeat, i keep waiting for that to kick in"

Well, despite completely missing the point and ignoring distant lights, here is your fucking 4x4 beetches. And i love the marimba bit

Love this album so much

This album is amazing. Super beautiful, I frankly prefer it to the first. It is one of the more melancholy pieces of music i have ever heard. The attempt to make it "happy" just makes it that much more melancholy, imo.

For me, it is no let down. Perfect Autumn music.

hearing it on real player rhapsody this morning.

absolutely incredible. quite a bit bummed as it starts off with a track i just cannot tolerate - archangel. hate it. the vocals are just - no. great music. release a dub version of it, would be fantastic.

with the exception of that track, the album is absolutely stellar. homeless, untrue and near dark definately stand out the brightest for me. i love the short lil musical interludes like uk and in mcdonalds. ambient stuff. some sounds are recycled, but it doesn't matter. it's strictly signature at this point and i love it.

great followup though with untrue. there is zero case of "sophomore jinx" here. pure gold.

was on a wind-up when a said a thought it was shit. its sick. and its all about 'raver'

loads of people are over reacting tho, not exactly groundbreaking is it, its just really good
