DUBSTEP MINUS EVIL WOBBLE EQUALS BORING MINIMAL TECHNO

Post by judge_mortis » Sun Nov 11, 2007 2:30 pm

The tunes that defined this small but growing scene stood out from the pack with their oblique in your chest drops , darkside samples and dancefloor killing arrangements.
There is a big different to sitting at home infront of your PC listenin to tunes and goin out dancing and I reckon those 'wobble' haters need to get out more.
Seriously, who comes back froma decent night out wishing the music had been a bit deeper and less in your face???
First the smoking ban next the wobble ban???

Wobble is alright to get people moving....but raving for 5 hours straight to nothing but wobble Gets a little tedious.

I will be looking to infuse minimal elements into my current project for a deeper atmospheric dub experience.

thats what a bar is for.
have some less full on stuff in there,
Any decent DJ should take it deep every now and then.
Dont misunderstand me, I not against music with depth and feelin ,all good tunes should take you to another level.

Its all about contrasting and switching.
I just reckon people vote with thier feet.

your statement is a huge generalisation and i feel it is rather innacurate

genres of dance music can lap over.
dubstep with no reggae feel, not having osiciallation bass effects. could easily be minimal techno..

This is almost as nonsensical as a Feasible post.

Most of the folk on here who I know personally go to at least two nights every week, if not more, and also play out on radio. While it would be wrong to describe any of us as wobble haters, I feel that to a certain degree there is a shared dislike of mediocre, generic (sometimes wobbly) tunes and that what keeps the scene interesting is variation in sounds. Kode9's Untrue preview at FWD the other Friday was immense and there wasn't a wobble in ear shot. Also, Scientist smacked it HARD with a ton of older 2steppy bits that had the room going off from the word go, also wobble free.

It's important to keep variation in any scene, what I like about Dubstep is the potential to experiment fully with a mixture of different sounds and beats...the wobble side of things has produced some wicked tunes, if it starts to mean thats all you hear out that'd be a shame but I really don't think that'll be the case..

ma tuppence worth there:)
