Am I stupid, whats a 320?
Just that and maybe some of you would pay my myspace a visit, i should like some feedback on my tracks.. specially the 1. one in the player which is brand new..

a 320 kbps mp3. basically just a high quality mp3 that can be used to play out on a system without sounding shit

a 320 is an MP3 encoded at 320 Kbps (jolly high quality).

Given your post I find it slightly amusing that you are called dubengineer. Please don't take offence, it's just that the irony caught me like a cold Haddock round the chops.

How wonderfully quick replies, the reason i call myself dubengineer is just that i had to find a user name for my myspace, I have been doing livesound for 12 years and for the last, round 5-6 years I did more and more fx dubs on the bands, so people often referred to me as Bjoern Dub. Hence the name dubengineer..

Its not that im offended, but i dont understand the ironi? Have I hit some funny lingual mistake?

Dub Engineer as in someone who engineers dubs, but who doesn't know what a 320 is is what I found a bit funny. Sorry, I've probably come across as a bit of a twat, I'm not really, I'm a nice chap honestly. Bjoern Dub is a quality nick name. Welcome to the forum Mr Dub.

320 without any more infomation means, only a number, a day in the year or if you live long, an age.

Understandable people, even involved in music, wouldnt know it.

I know, it wasn't that he didn't know, it was that he's called dubengineer and didn't know. I was trying to be friendly, it genuinely made me laugh and I did tell him what a 320 was. I posted a similar reply on seafishingforum.com when a chap called grimsbyfishermonger came on and asked what a haddock was.

Sorry yeh, i do get ya. its just somtimes people just say, "i got a 320" or "can i have a 320"

its not always obvious what they are reffering to as a 320....

I do have my own question now aswell, what quality is a standard CD?

I dont have any to hand, and wouldnt know how to work it out anyway...

I'm not sure, I remember some ripping prog saying it was 128kbps but I thought it was actually somewhere between 160 and 180. I'm sure someone on here with more knowledge will know.

So playing a set from Hip Hop Cd's wouldnt be advised in a bar....?

To be honest I wouldn't know... I've done it and it seemed fine though. Ironically, considering the nature of this thread, as Dubengineer works with live sound he may be able to enlighten us.
