Serato 1.8 Beta - Out now, new features are HUGE!

Post by kidlogic » Tue Nov 06, 2007 3:00 pm

Work cannot get done fast enough now... all I can say is WOW!

Taken from Serato Forum:

New Features:

MIDI Input
Scratch LIVE now supports MIDI input, so that you can control the software with a 3rd party MIDI device.

Off-line player
You can now play tracks without hardware connected. Set up crates, cue points, make loops etc from the comfort of your lounge chair.

Auto-looping
Create loops of preset length on the fly.

New Relative mode options
New needle dropping in Relative mode and needle drop to cue points options.

AAC support
AAC files are now supported in Scratch LIVE.

New TTM 57SL effects
HP Echo and HP Hold Echo (Bass cut versions of the existing effects), phaser, flanger and a bit crusher.

Relocate lost files
Move stuff around on your drive, without stuffing up your library.

Autobackup
Once a week your Scratch LIVE folder is automatically backed up.

Tabbed setup screen
A redesign of the setup screen with options under separate tabs.

I didnt quite get it till I saw it...
When you start it up where it used to say "interface disconected" theres a 'generic' deck for playback - sans interface... very nice for setting up a set or a crate while waiting your turn or on the way to the gig...

The rest of the new features are dope, especially the new relative mode features like needle drop to cue and needle drop to absolute. They make using things like loops and cues a lot easier (for me at least) and the midi stuff is way cool too.

I had it in internal mode with the pitch faders mapped to the faders on my trigger finger and the pads mapped to the auto loop feature, which allowed me to switch to internal (also midi mappable) and go up like 30 or 40 bpm using the fader on the trigger finger with the song on a short loop.

Seriously making me rethink alot about djing in general.

Ive been hearing rumors about MPEG mixing in Serato.

The day I can take my vj stuff and put it to audio is the day I start djing again
