the scene needs more people with their own unique, vision like sam. but tbh this isn't just dubstep, most scenes need this.

unique is the word. i actually think the best thing sam did was say he was gonna stop makin dubstep, allowed him total freedom to make his sound and blur the boundaries

in essence amost all the production pioneers in the scene seem to think like this, it allows them to find new directions and ideas. as soon as you say 'i make dubstep and it's made in this way' you'll start to stop finding new ideas. (unless you find all your ideas by accident of course, which is lucky!)

shackleton's stuff is really really out there and i think it takes a lot of people a few listens to appreciate it, but once you do it just draws you in and envelopes you and you never look back. genius at work.

Surgeon usually gets his mits on a quality copy. If you ask nicely he'll probably upload it to his myspace after MA's next show has gone out (i.e. next Wednesday). In the meantime...hit listen again...

I get misty eyed about this shit - I converted some good friends to the sounds of dubstep many many moons ago at one of these such shindigs.
