Phish - You Enjoy Myself
23 min (in written form, longer in certain jams) tune about a trip to Italy Tre Anastasio and Page McConnell took when in college. My favorite thing about this song is that the first version Id ever heard was from a live show, so I thought the length was because it was a jam. I later found out that each note of the version on 1996's "A Live One" is the note-for-note version and that they were incredibly high when performing it. I love the way it crescendos for about 10 minute and climaxes into a single cymbal hit, releasing the tension and dropping into a serious groove.
Ive been able to catch them twice live and saw a 45min version of this tune live with two other songs woven into the jam, as well as a Simpson's tease that the experienced members of the audience knew was a 'call and response' command, and that they should turn around, slap their foreheads and shout 'DOH!' while pointing at the person directly behind them.
It may sound funny, but the way they wove songs together and the tension and release moments they created live at those two shows were the inspiration for me to become a DJ.

Sorry, I couldnt find any audio online with a quick search... Im sure theres some somewhere though. If I do I will post it here if anyone is interested and cant find it.
Also of note is the 'Gamehenge' series of tunes, Trey's Senior Thesis for College (he and all four members of Phish have a Doctorate in Music of some sort). Gamehenge is a musical fable told through 16 or so songs which were only performed in order a handful of times.
Oh yeah, IM NOT A HIPPY!
