Rusko
Im sitting here at work and I am listening to the Caspa & Rusko CD and there are a few tunes on here that stand out the most, Rusko - Too Far (Sub Soldiers), Rusko - Hammer Time (Sub Soldiers), Rusko - Mr Chips (Dubplate) and Rusko - 2 NAQ (Sub Soldiers). These don't sound like your ordinary dubstep, rather than classic vintage samples these tunes are filled with an explosive amount of energy that feels like you are somewhat teleported to the near future a thousand years from now.
Listening to these tracks I am expecting Tron to burst through the walls and start skanking out any time soon. Compared to tracks on the album such as L-Wiz's Girl from Codeine City and Caspa's own Cockney Violin, the mixture of these tracks throws your mind around like a small child being hit by a car.
Im not knocking Rusko - the I love these tracks especially Mr Chips and the CD is heavy but just wanting people to air their opinions and start a discussion, on what you believe Rusko is creating? I am not sure if its going to be a sub genre of dubstep or whether it sounds alot like minimal techno or some influenced jump-up dnb.

not liking the direction rusko is taking, too much mid freq sounds too noisy, fair play to him for trying something differant though just dont think it works
havent heard the cd either but know most of the tunes on it judging by the tracklisting.
theres been lots of posts about this "jump up" dubstep and tbh lots of them arent that positive. i like it, and think its good to have energy in dubstep rather than a lot of the plodding half step wobblers that are around these days, but as with halfstep i prefer "jump up" in moderation. agree with what you say about rusko's older stuff, snes dub is still a percy

Rusko does the extreme of the wobbla/hectic side of things
whether or not that is a sometimes annoying side of stuff, he does it really fuckin well, great music to listen on your way out!

Tunes like 'William H Tonkers' raelly piss me off not feeling them at all but if you got that on vinyl you flip it over and you have pure deepness like 'Roma'. I LOVE some of his tunes (the deep dubby ones) and HATE others.
On this topic though, Grime heads really seem to be feeling tunes like Mr Chips still, brings alot of energy to sets which has been missing in Grime for quite a while now

I also don't really like the new mad tunes like 2 Far. Just taking a step back from those tunes being from the dubstep scene, I personally would never listen to tunes like that unless they were in a dubstep mix.
BUT, I think something that's overlooked when people discuss Caspa and Rusko are their other really great tunes with a garage feel like Rusko's Love is Real off Babylon Vol 1 or Velvet Rooms from Ave It Vol 1. I don't think I've heard anyone playing these tunes in sets at all. They also have some lovely deeper tunes like Rock Bottom and Caspa's Born to Do It and Moments in Love remix. I imagine it's quite frustrating when people hardly mention these tunes and say Caspa and Rusko are all about the aggro ones. They are making stuff outside the dubs N-Type plays.
