You'll want 1.5ghz+ processor with no less then 1GB ram.

For under £700 this is close to what your get as most laptops with like an Intel Core 2 Duo 2ghz+ processor will cost you £900+, although I'd look on eBay as you can can pickup some refurbished jobbies with a nice spec like 2ghz chip & 1GB ram for under your budget. Also check out www.dell.com/uk as they actually have some good laptops at reasonable prices.

If your looking to play the latest games on a laptop then you can pretty much forget it unless your shelling out a grand or so as most laptop gfx cards a re shit.

Oh, you'll want to get a USB Audio Interface as well because laptop soundcards are also wanky.

ok, well ive found this on the dell site

Inspiron 1520

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7250 (2.00 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)

15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display with TrueLife™

2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]

160GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive

for £586.52

what you think?

i also found the E-mu 0202 USB audio interface, i am assuming this will be fine no matter how crappy the sound card is?

Yeah that is a good spec for a laptop and a good price as well. 2ghz chip with 2GB ram will do you well.

Also the EMU 0202 is one I am looking at as well for use with my laptop an dI think I am gonna order it before Xmas. It's sposed to have good clear sound with nice low latency, would rather hear from it's users though.

And is you would like dual display with your laptop, check out the Samsung USB monitor, cannot wait to get one of these!

I've got a Dual 2.0GHZ Core2Duo Macbook with 2GB ram and it runs beautifully.

I'd recommend the Macbook, The benefits being that it runs Mac OSX - butit can run Windows as well if you need it.

And You can even pick up Logic 8 seriously cheaply now - which is a really good reason to get a Mac - if you're thinking PC / Mac
