The dnb / dubstep cross?????????

Post by lokki » Fri Nov 30, 2007 11:05 pm

Hi..

Ive been into dnb for time..but the tasty (and recently far more interesting) sounds of dubstep have got me intersted of late... ive seen a really healthy dubstep influence in dnb recently with more basic, minimal but well produced tunes around..

Just wondered whether anyone had heard the following tunes and what they thought of them. As a long time dnb kid (from way back in 95 y'know ! lol) i am really intersed in waht dubstep peeps make of these tracks...(i love em!) and whether you could ever see some kind of cross over between dnb and dubstep ...

Breakage - Clarendon http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/se ... ack=SBOY09

Lynx - Disco Dodo http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF292401-01-01-01.mp3

Obviouly the bpm is quicker.....but as a Dj ive been putting dnb and dubstep togther for a few months now and feel that with careful selection it can really work (and also fail miserably!)

ill stick a mix up on here soon...

many people on this forum love the dubstep influenced drum'n'bass ;)

Lynx and Disco Dodo appreciation thread - http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t ... light=lynx

Clarendon / The Shroud threads - http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t ... =clarendon

Hindsight EP (all about Come Back!)

general "Breakage is on dubstep forum, let's make him produce dubstep!!!" thread ;)

-----------

from the dubstep producers taking onto faster tempos check Pinch - Pepper Spray
http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t ... nx&start=0

and the Parson bits on his virb

-----------

hope there will be more sounds with dubstep vibes crossing over to dnb

I also generally like Toasty/Toastyboy tunes, also some Elemental, Dubchild and many others' breakstep bits which can be also considered as dubstep/dnb crossover
3 things I miss most from the UK... swede, cider and the music scene!
