IS THE GROWTH OF NEW DUBSTEP MC'S ESSENTIAL TO THE GROWTH OF THE SCENE???

PEOPLE SAY THAT THE MUSIC SPEAKS FOR ITSELF, AND ISNT A MC BASED MUSIC LIKE GRIME! (which is true!)...

BUT ARE A VARITEY OF DIFFERENT KIND OF MC'S NEEDED TO AID THE GROWTH OF A SCENE??

DOES THIS HAPPEN NATUALLY?? AS A SCENE GETS BIGGER MORE PEOPLE OBVIOUSLY LISTEN AND GET INVOLVED...

WOULD IT DAMAGE THE SCENE??? do to many mc's spoil the brew?

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE DUBSTEP BORN MC'S! AT THE MOMENT WE ARE SEEING MC'S FROM OTHER GENRES LIKE GRIME BRIDGING THE GAP AND MCING ON DUBSTEP (which is good)... But i would like to see sum of the new up and coming MC's build lyrics around dubsteps influence, not from grime or jungle... (VEIWS PLEASE)

THE MUSIC IS A GREAT FORMAT FOR MCS AND MC'S HELP TO HYPE UP A RAVE! WITHOUT A DOUT! SO DO WE NEED MORE???

The best way I can explain this i recon, is to compare the growth of the drum n bass scene.

Back in the day most the mc's were kinda hosts like GQ and Five-o, moose, then mc's like Stevie hyper D, Skibbadee, fearless and Det came on the scene and carried on the evolution of longer bars and flows.

These kind of mc's appealed to everyone but also to younger audiences and helped introduce more people to DNB. GQ and dem mans were respected by the elders and everyone in the scene and will always be remembered.

was this one of the elements which helped build the dnb scene to how big it is now??

People obviously like Dnb for different reasons....The Drum n bass scene has a massive following for (a.) the music (b.) the dj's (c.) the mc's (b.) the raves (in no order! thats down to opinion)

there is an obvious market for each one of these! but was the introduction of more mc's one of the key elements that made the scene massive??? at the moment we have about 6 mc's that are all original and good but do we need more??

I LOVE THE MC'S IN DA SCENE NOW!!!.. AND IM NOT REALLY FUSSED EITHER WAY COS I HAVE MY FAVORITES AND IM A DJ!

BUT

PLEASE VOICE UR VIEWS....

I like MCs as hosts in dubstep. I don't mind so much on radio sets, but endless MCing gets in the way of my meditation in raves hehe..

we do need mc's like GQ, MC MC, Fearless etc....

it adds to the divercity of the scene. I dont really wanna hear grime style lyrics over anything, i kina wanna hear rave mc's! bighooks that every 1 can skream out in a rave!

u need more raves first!!!

jungle was coming off the back of hardcore and acid house so there was plenty of raves goin on where all the mc lot learnt their trade (pirates as well) and they moved into jungle gradually...

seems that dubstep had mc crazy d plonked there at velvet rooms in the first place and then gradually as it grew/grows...more people came thru.

i definitely think more grime mc's should come into dubstep...footsie etc are sick sick sick

I love mc's. I honestly do. There's nothing better than the chemistry between an MC and a DJ that's flinging down some heavy tunes.

a good MC knows when to be in the shade and the spotlight at the same time.

CrazyD is original....beyond words. When he and Hatcha get going, there's nothing better. It's magic....

Right now -- Pokes is the guy, for a few reasons.
1. His voice.
2. He knows when to rhyme and when to just say something.
3. He's hilarious. (The Dubwar crew knows about this....Was there anything funnier than Pokes cracking on the girl in the goth outfit?)

most dubstep hold its own im allways frightend when working with mc's that people miss key points of atmosphere when youve got''wah wah --blut blut yakrty smakrty'' over tunes

mc's sound good over jus beats and low bass before melodys etc--to hype up a drop or break

just my oppinion

IMO I don't think the MC is essential in the growth of the dubstep scene.. but when done well i think it really works..

The problem with some MC's.. (dnb mainly) is they don't know when to let a tune breath.. Its one of the reason i stopped going to dnb raves, cos there was too many Taz's about..

Letting the tune be heard and hosting is the key i think..

I've actually become more acceptable to MC's over the last few years, but maybes thats because in dubstep the majority are pretty good... Love hearing it done well at a dance or on radio, but still not sure about an MC on a mix cd.. but again thats just my opinion

Totally agree with Joe, that Pokes is the man at the mo.. Seeing him with mala at fwd a few weeks back was awesome... Can't wait for DMZ

Definitely feeling Space Ape - so so deep. Haven't seen him at a dance, but on records CDs for bedroom meditation he can't be beat.

Damn... I've been using the monicer CrazyDave for 10 years!
missed out an MC opportunity there

Personally I don't like Grime emcees that much, but IF Dubstep chose to go
down that route (in the name of diversity) they should develop their own vocal style.

The music does speak for itself, maybe in a big club or on radio you could have an Mc.. but like Spaceape or Conrad.. elevated vocals...
If Dubstep goes down the dNb/Grime Mc route it will end up sounding like nothing new.
