Not really, sorry. It's not easy to take a half hour anime and put it down to 4 minutes and have it still make sense. And I used Sony Vegas :P
i mean that better if You use Your own video in clip...

and that's not easy.

but then You can say: that's my movie, i made it 8)

So if you see DJ Shadow walking down the streets, are you gonna tell him to his face that he can't say that Endtroducing is his album, he made it?

Man I doubt there is a dubstep track out there that doesn't use any samples in any way - whether it is a melody, drum sounds, acapella, or dialogue from a film...

That being said I haven't seen the clip yet, and tbh I think the whole "take a song you like and add an anime to it" trend is annoying, but if it turns out well TS, props to you.

That's because it's taken from the actual anime series Samurai Champloo

What difference? They both took other people's original work and re-edited them into their own. Clearly this videoclip didn't take as much work as Shadow's album, but it's all a matter of principle anyways.

I think it's always a dangerous situation to be saying it's a matter of principle, taking common sense out of the equation. Some people think it's a waste of time and energy, some people think it's good, some people are indifferent.

It's people "sticking to their principles" and being inflexible about their views that causes most of the bad stuff that happens in the world.

sorry mate, but i still can't agree with You...
first of all, "re-edited" is wrong word to describe this both situations. if You take samples and do with it completely new thing by Your own, use Your imagination, technique, talent, do really hard, creative work... then You can't say that is the same thing when You take pictures from anime and put exactly this same picture into the clip in another sequences.... even if this tell some kind of new story, ... i think that is not fair to compare this two situation in the way like You do it... for music producers and for those who do their music video from basics...

How is it different from a video for a song in a soundtrack that uses clips from a movie?

Unfortunately I can't get Burial to perform for me to splice in footage of whoever he is, so I did the best I can.

But whatever, I'm not claiming it's the most creative thing ever done, just don't rip on me for sampling video clips, the irony is painful.

it may come as a suprise, but sometimes music inspires people, which leads them to create within their medium. shocking!

ok,
to summ up, i don't mention, that You do something bad, but i think, that more effective, and especially more satisfaction for You could be if You use your own video captures to montage.

I still don't see the difference.

Music Producer finds something he likes on somebody else's track, which he owns on MP3/WAV/vinyl/cd/whatever, and decides to use it in a track of his 'own' (how much of his own is pretty debateable, depending on heavy the sample usage and how it is used).

Video Maker finds a song he likes, wants to do a video tribute to it. What does he do? Spend more money and time than the Music Producer getting a resonable cast and setting and editing, or is he just going to take an existing piece of work, and re-edit it to his own tastes, just like the music producer?

It's the same thing, really. Everyone just thinks it's different because every electronic musician and his dog have sampled at some point or other, whereas the practice is way less common amongst film makers.

Which is ironic, because the practice of using other people's art in your own has been around before anyone even knew what the fuck sampling was.

and that's the point... if it's just the piece of existing work, it's ok, but if it's all of this work it's... still ok, but something different

moreover... you don't need to spend a lot of money, to capture Your own video... You need video camera, good eye, and ideas to realization, to creat something new. of course You can take existing pieces of work, but in this case it's an ideas from another video clips and movies... like music producent take samples to create his music.
