Mary Anne has championed the scene since its infancy, playing all the latest and baddest dubplates on her show, releasing the critically lauded ‘Warrior Dubz' compilation on Planet Mu, an album of dark underground Dubstep, Grime, DnB and Techno, and performing blistering live sets all over the world. Kode9 Hyperdub
Another Titan of the scene, Kode9 has been instrumental in driving forward dupstep since its formative days. Although born in the city of Glasgow, Scotland, Kode9 is genetically a junglist. He started DJing in 1990 at the age of 16, playing a fusion of reggae, breaks, hip hop, jazz, funk and house. He was subsequently swept up by the emergence of the breakbeat hardcore, jungle and drum’n’bass scenes, and has been rinsin’ breaks, ragga chat and bubblin’ basslines ever since. DJing across the UK during the 90s, from Edinburgh, to Coventry, Kode9 migrated to London in 1997, suffering infection to darker strains of the emergent 2step garage scene. Arguably one of the biggest and most respected names around, Kode9 has done it all. The Dubstep scientist has DJ'd the best parties, founded the awesome Hyperdub label (with releases such as Burial ‘Burial'), hosted the primetime slot on Rinse FM and if that's not enough written a book on ‘Sonic Warfare'! Always committed to pushing the boundaries and challenging norms, Kode9's visit to Cargo is destined to provoke an overwhelming response.
DJ Distance Planet Mu /Tempa
Dark, grimy and industrial, DJ Distance is one of the best producers of Dubstep and Breaks emerging from the UK underground. Releasing some of the sickest tracks of the year and working with the freshest labels about, Dj Distance as quickly established himself as one of the main players around. No doubt, this will be heavy!
Completing the all-star line up, London's new super producer and dj, Hungryman will be working the subs to the extreme, dropping all flavours of dubplates on the dancefloor. Hold tight, Yes Boss in its usual style is bringing the best of the best to Cargo.
