Fruity Loop help needed...

Post by capsule » Mon Apr 17, 2006 2:17 pm

Im using it for a while now, trying to figure it all out.
Hard task for me cause i never used any kind of these programs.

Anyway, i am trying to found out how you complete a tune.
Ive only got tiny bits (1 pattern). Its sounds cool, but i want to make it complete.

I just noticed the complete song is seperated in patterns right?
(if not tell me im wrong :D )

So how do i copy the first pattern i made to the next pattern?

Is this the key to complete a full tune and not a single pattern.
Can anyone help me out, much appreciated...

Thanks

i usually make a sketch of the track in one pattern first. mixin stuff in and out with the mouse.

2nd phase - copy each line of the pattern (hihat, synth line, bass, etc) into its own pattern. all your empty patterns are already there. just click on the lines in the Playlist mode

(sorry for lack of specifics, not on my production PC at the mo, doin it from memory)

3rd phase - once you have each part in its own pattern, mute the original one and draw little boxes in the playlist for when you want each part to come in and out. draw a long box to keep it going for a while...

Right click Pattern 1 (or which ever Pattern number you have your samples) and select "Clone Selected" or Shift, Ctrl, C. It will than automatically take you down to the next pattern where you may place your clone and change at will.

i find it easiest to give each element its own pattern, then right click on it and rename it to that instrument, you can also change the patterns colour if you so desire, then right click and select clone pattern to change the riff etc, instead of trying to do the whole lot in one pattern, gets too messy that way imo
oh, and if you're using the step editor for everything you need to check out the piano roll, essential for synths, and usefull for drums/samples as well

select all the channels in the step sequencer window..just double click the green light next to any channel and they'll all light up

ctrl-c to copy, select an empty pattern then ctrl-v to paste..

now you have to identical patterns..modify either for alternate bits and arrange em in the playlist window..name them in the playlist window or it will start to get confusing once you've made 4 or 5 of em

. . . in V6 you can right click on a pattern in the playlist and there is an option t seperate each channel into its own pattern, automatically doing wot bOa says . . .
