Hasn't this race of lizardmen already infiltrated the US government and are running the world?

As long as it's epic - Pelican, Isis, Cult of Luna, Eden Maine, Neurosis, Russian Circles, Jesu ... lots of the hydra head stuff. Listen to Red Sparowes if you haven't - their first record is a masterpiece. At the Gates are good, Black Dahlia Murder in the same vein. Agreed Psycroptic are sick... there's this one Vital Remains songs that is fairly good also... can't remember the name though.

Khanate's self titled lp and 'Things Viral' were awesome. SunnO))) also. Anything involving O' Malley/Anderson is always great (Burial Chamber Trio, Grave Temple, Goatsnake, Burning Witch etc)

I used to produce breakcore, and during that period I only listened to death/black metal bands like Deathspell Omega, Watain, Ofermod, Ondskapt, Mutiilation and such. Crazy atmosphere in that kinda music. I got tired of the scene's arrogance and all the holy fucks that think they're best cause they got some First Press Burzum LP. Fuck that. Besides that, they look stupid.

Isis

Neurosis
Unsane (+ JJ Paradise Players Club)

^Vex'd and Distance mixed some SunnO))) and Isis with their tracks on Breezeblock...

me, I've just discovered this sick sick band, Yob. They're an American psychedelic/stoner metal band. http://www.myspace.com/yobdoom

Get the Illusion of Motion.

But yeah, some fusion/crossover would be sick.

Hell yes!

Metal still gets hammered out on an almost daily basis round my way. Dubstep/extreme electronic music is a logical extension of bands such as:

Corrupted
Burning Witch
Circle of Dead Children
Neurosis
Khanate
Today Is The Day
Brutal Truth
Melvins
Halo

etc etc

More interstingly maybe, is anyone into their brutalising noise/debauched improv/psychedelic drone? I mean stuff like:

Whitehouse
Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music
Skullflower
Peter Brotzman (esp Machine Gun)
Taj Mahal Travellers
New Blockaders
Mouthus
Double Leopards
Yellow Swans

etc etc

Again, a totally logical extension from the extremity of a lot of dubstep/techno.

Any takers?

VinylEater wrote:Aye man, used to listen to metal almost exclusively. Still listen to quite a lot, especially in these cold, dark winter months (but, of course, dubstep is good for these months too hehe)

Off the top of my head...

Neurosis
Boris
Earth
Electric Wizard
Burzum
Empyrium
Emperor
I'm with you on those, add in some Sunn((0)), Isis and a smattering of hardcore new and old and thats me.
