The furthest Ill go most times is a couple of tokes or a couple of beers.

The problem with alcohol, as I am sure most of you know... Is that you can't hear properly if you keep poundin em back. Doing a final mix while drunk isn't that effective.

If you are just laying down drums and a bassline, it can't hurt.

Sometimes I start projects while I am waiting for my clonazepam to kick in.

Weed - im too lazy to write..
Meth - will write for 12 hours non-stop.. Hardly enough time to take a piss..
Xtc - Hard to focus on screen - but motivation is high - usually end up on the tableturns
Coke - im too pov
GBH - i tryed writing on this shit once - focusing on the screen sucked for 30mins - then it went away..
Beer - passout before i get to the computer...

I must add - weed is a good companion of meth for those long hauls!!

You Aussies and your bloody Meth. I lived there for 18 months and was constantly amazed at how socially acceptable such an evil substance is. I know your going to contest this but................
Don't fucking big it up on here. Each to his own etc etc but you can't actuallly promote such an addictive substance.
I met loads of people in Aus and NZ who thought Meth was o.k but they were just sucked in already and on a path to getting fucked up beyond all recognition.

meth is a very evil drug that will dry your mouth, rot your teeth, make you smell like piss and rotton cheese (aka scared sweat), make you feel like there are people moving around in your room, and peering through your window, make you skinny, ugly, sad, feeble, weak, and helplessly addicted. All the while, you will actually feel okay as long as you don't run out of shit.

yes, you will sit down in front of your computer and not move from your seat for 8 hours. you will have motivation to delve into production on levels you don't normally have motivation to. you will definately put out work. but at what cost? meth is the devil. don't be fooled.

THE BASIS is Meth is very bad for you and hard to get off (with the people i met it seemed a lot like smoking cigarrettes, i.e even if you stop the addiction never really goes away).

THE POINT is that some more impressionable people viewing this thread could easily misread your comment and think smoking Meth is the answer to being productive whilst writing music.

And I feel sorry for you (not the other way round), because you are playing a very dangerous game with that shit and you are highly likely to get burned. This response is my view completely necessary to a very stupid thing that you wrote

most drugs are over rated and make u feel like total shit the next day... or week, i cant really be fuct anymore.

Give me a beer anyday! love the sauce! and a smoke! yer ive had some minging hangovers, but it was usually cos i had cracked on something else when i was drunk.

Hangovers can get minging if u mix up ya drink and hit dark spirits and beer or wine and beer. but a Fry up in the morning is one of my favorite cures! (its something to do with the oil lining ur stomach i think) and after abit more lazing about and a zoot. your cool by the afternoon. sleep sorts me out.

i made more tunes when i was out my head though.

like tolerance and square off. out of my FACE! Charged!

Anhedonia sucks bad. It has something to do with fucked up neurotransmitters or something. anyways, Meth can cause it so DONT FUCKING DO METH.

On another tip, I know a guy who is otherwise pretty healthy but he's a pot addict. And he's a very talented musician, but when he's high HE's FUCKING RETARDED... And he's a pain in the ass to be around. Pot completely messes up his personality and makes him look like a complete loser. He becomes apathetic and useless. I imagine if he ever shakes his pot addiction, his musical skills will soar back up to his true potential. Because when he's sober, he rocks like no other. But he's a pathetic loser when he's using.

Ask any doctor if drugs are bad for you and they will give you the facts.

Stay clean and in control. Don't catch yourself in the jedi mind trick which is drugs (and addiction).

If you haven't done drugs all you have are 3rd hand accounts and mere observations. I know you probably think your observations are accurate, but so did the majority of the world when they thought the earth was flat. "IT LOOKS FLAT!"

Edit, also as someone who HAS done a lot of drugs, let me start by saying Coke, Meth and Heroin are particularly useless. You can garner their effects from less addictive, more useful substances. If you want speed, Adderall is much safer, cleaner and less addictive than coke or meth. Coke and meth are dirty, overstimulating and will not perform as you think they should. Coffee works wonders. If you need a stimulant chemical, Adderall or Ritalin. If you need an opioid "downer" then just stick to some lesser forms, like hydrocodone. Much cleaner and safer seeing as they are government regulated. Or you can try Kratom tea which is a legal, heavy "downer" like opioids, but not addicting and not as powerful. And as with ANY CHEMICAL.. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE PUTTING INSIDE OF YOU. Don't be a whore.

But. and this a big one considerin i dont get alot of time to produce at the moment as it is... blazing up and then leapin about 4 hours without realisin it reli fucks me off!!
Anyone else get that? Just get stuck on the keys messin with a b-line or fucking around with the drums and a chasm like reverb machine? i get stuck ther for hours...

Ecstasy and acid I think. Black Grape were definitely into heroin. Prolly no strangers to meth though. Speed makes you skinny. Shaun Ryder is far from skinny.

Yeah sorry to bring Australia into it, no generalisations intended as obviously everyone is going to approach this differently.

It just seemed to me when I lived there (and I fackinlovedit mait while i was there) that Meth is a massive problem because there isnt much of a stigma attached to it like there is here in the U.K.

I saw a collegaue go from being clean sober and focused after 3 months off the crystals to becoming a right mess in a very short space of time after getting back on the glass pipe. It was very sad

All im saying is that its dangerous to accept it as a substance similar to weed, E's etc when the consequences can be so severe. And no I dont like seeing things written that tread the thin line of saying its o.k to use while making music. I visit this forum to talk about music and this really made me angry. (and i have tried it as well so im not speaking from an ignorant perspective).

Big up Australia and Aussie Dubstep, there wasn't too much happening when I was there but hopefully i will be able to go back and check it out sometime
