this is one of the things i hate about grime mc's
jay z use linkin park and then nas uses rock, then akala and dizzee and lethal...........not imagination at all just baiting hip-hop badly
its a shame because grime is a great style of music, very eclectic....for example heavy dubstep tunes now consist of a min moody sample followed by a pulsating bass sound with some zaps acting like snares to give it speed....every man and their dog does that now.
but grime instrumentals are much more eclektic in nature and banger dont have a formula.
listen to the 2nd tune of this person producing 5 months

listen to Maniacs one called maniac clips..absolutely no absolute set structure..u just make it bang

i have never been a massive lethal fan but i think he deserves alot more respect than he gets...everyone hates on grime artists for 'selling out' and making hip hop or really commercial stuff when they release an album (roll deep, kano, even dizzee) but lethal has released 3 proper albums that are atleast 90% grime and released 2 of the biggest and rowdiest grime singles to chart (oi and forward)...he has had commercial success without sacrificing anything...
so he does a couple of songs with some indie bands and he is a whore...he obviously wants more exposure and trying to get some that is for positive reasons not the old So Solid, raves being banned stereotype stuff...
...im no indie fan at all but i work somewhere were there are loads of them and i can tell u that they have very open minds when it comes to music...their record collections would surprise you and there has been a number of indie djs supporting grime and dubstep for years...

then people start talking bollocks like this which doesnt help...dubluke wrote:lethal bizzle is bait cos he plays to indie kids, and being linked with indie kids in any way is shit

I'm pretty sure Roll Deep play a show with the Klaxons (not physically on stage with them but on the same line-up) in Brighton earlier this year...make of that what you will.

Much more so that your average dubstep crowd, we done an electro/dubstep night with Coki and Boy 8 Bit, the electro crowd were raving all night to all different styles but the dubstep kids looked pissed off wheever anything dropped apart from a halfstep beat...but maybe dubstep dosent really mix with other genres that wellwil? wrote:...im no indie fan at all but i work somewhere were there are loads of them and i can tell u that they have very open minds when it comes to music...
More on topic Lethal is a bit waste but he has made some bangers and he seems to be doing pretty well for himself really.

you would be supprised how much it cost to book him...i could put 4 decent dubstep nights together for the amount he is gettin right now...fair play to him cos he is one of the hardest workers in the scene...and he was quite funny on never mind the buzzcocks...Bob Crunkhouse wrote: More on topic Lethal is a bit waste but he has made some bangers and he seems to be doing pretty well for himself really.

yeh agreed. i imagine he charges a fortune, he played one of the biggest venues in brighton when he was here..would be interesting to see what kind of people turn up to his gigs? indie crowd, grime crowd? mix i guess.wil? wrote:you would be supprised how much it cost to book him...i could put 4 decent dubstep nights together for the amount he is gettin right now...fair play to him cos he is one of the hardest workers in the scene...and he was quite funny on never mind the buzzcocks...Bob Crunkhouse wrote: More on topic Lethal is a bit waste but he has made some bangers and he seems to be doing pretty well for himself really.

Lethal got B(oyed!)
Bad boy thread!>>>http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=99149
i think that the dubstep heads got pissed when anything without the step is due to 1) dubstep still being a niche genre where most people into it will want to listen to it exclusively if they go to a night with it in and 2) the indie/elctro crowd are generally more likely to shonk out to different styles as they haven't heard it before and dubstep lends itslef to mixing into alot of genres being around 135-140 bpmBob Crunkhouse wrote:Much more so that your average dubstep crowd, we done an electro/dubstep night with Coki and Boy 8 Bit, the electro crowd were raving all night to all different styles but the dubstep kids looked pissed off wheever anything dropped apart from a halfstep beat...but maybe dubstep dosent really mix with other genres that wellwil? wrote:...im no indie fan at all but i work somewhere were there are loads of them and i can tell u that they have very open minds when it comes to music...![]()

who in grime has a bigger following than lethal (besides dizzee...)
wiley? kano? tinchy?
i don't think any of them can draw as much as he can...
i don't particularly like lethal (tho "fuck you" is a great track), but he has probably been the best marketer in grime... he knew how to present his style in a recognizable way to non-grime fans... considering he wouldn't make a list of "top 50 best grime mc's", it's pretty funny how well he is doing...
