Shonky I reckon you should wait for Soul Food 3 before you write off Grime though, looks like it might be the best thing for a while.
Ah I'm not writing it off, I don't get to hear enough of it that's all. I've been getting back into house (not funky) recently and I find there's quite a lot there to sustain the interest. Some of that might be groundbreaking (to me) and fun too, which to me beats raw and exciting hands down (not like they're exclusive or anything either). Been getting into some of the Dubsided stuff and finding that quite refreshing.

I don't really have a problem with money, ladies and dances though, it's possible the music can still break some new ground
Hmm....

Yeah, you'd think dubstep didn't originally come from the slinky sounds of Horsepower and El-b the way some people carried on. It's the overly blokey level that's fucking it up to my mind, beer boy bovver music at one end and the chin stroking at the other, but mostly about as sexy as John Prescott playing in his own shit.

I mean in all honesty, from what I've listened to I'm not really going mad for this funky thing, but it's obvious that something's lacking when people are heading to those nights. Sounds similar to how UKG took off after dnb got too techsteppy
Hmm....

There's nothing wrong with girls, money and dances, I am a fan of all three. Just pointing out that are not the same as interesting music. Funky seems to have plenty of the former but little of the latter. We'll see if that comes later.

'Funky House'

I never did understand this tag -

if house music is not 'funky' what is the point of it

In Chicago we call it house, and if it is not funky then it is not welcomed.

Well progressive house made a whole genre out of not being funky.

Not to mention hard house. It'd be nice if no-one mentioned hard house

it's funny you should say that because apart from the music this is the exact reason that i keep coming back to ds nights...and all the girls i've met at nights have been totally safe - allow the shrieking high-heeled shoreditch type which have recently started to populate the female toilets at fwd>>> argh

Was more the music than the crowd I was referring to, totally agree though, dubstep ladies are generally well sound.

So the cheese is gonna slowly fold unto itself and then we'll have ambrosia?

:?

I'll be damned if this particular cycle hasn't completed already. The result was euro-dance. Those Apple beats are fresh though!

MA1's and geeneus' shows on rinse...always nice varied selection on the funky front it seems.
