dubstep.com - needs a purpose

Post by juice » Mon Dec 24, 2007 11:26 am

I've had this domain for quite a while now and I keep getting way too busy with my day job to develop it into something useful for the community. I'm hoping to get some ideas from forum members on what you'd like to see dubstep.com become.

I see that the main areas of forum and link directory are both pretty well established already, so i'm at a loss for what to use it for..

so here's your chance to influence the future of dubstep.com

not cash related.. I just want it to do something other than sit there..

also.. not sure what you mean by timing.. I don't get a chance to follow the forum so I may be missing something.. please share..

I didn't mean to post this to piss anyone off.. I thought it would be best to open up discussion here..

my advice to potential buyers here is to search this site. there's a couple of threads worth reading. that's all.

best of luck to sugarhigh.net and juice. i hope someone does the right thing with this domain.

all those threads seem to be a couple of years old.. not sure what timing had to do with it..

i sent you a pm.. catch me on msn if you have a minute as it would be much easier to chat over IM than posting here..

thanks

I re-read the thread you seemed to be posting the most in from a couple of years back..

just an fyi and some background on this.. I used to be involved heavily in the ukgarage/dubstep sound for several years when it was just breaking into the states.. I ran a few different club nights and tried to help out the scene where I could.. I registered the domain mad long ago when the name first got thrown around.. It's been sitting around waiting for an idea and I hadn't really had time to do anything of use with it..

I was talking to the guys from dubstep.fm a few months ago (also local) and they mentioned wanting to use it for a radio site and I was up for that.. just hadn't heard anything on that front recently and I was listening to some mixes tonight and it made me think of the domain and wanted to see what was going on over here..

hate on me if you like .. if you think the domain is being wasted.. step up and help me do something with it..

Radio sounds like a very good idea (not sure exactly what is involved in setting up an internet radio station mind...)

How about a site dedicated to streamed radio and video (of the Dubstep variety of course) and an archive/message board about parties in various places.

Its well documented that Dubstep is all about the parties and hearing it on a big system but a lot of the web coverage seems to only touch on this......

A directory of soundsystems available in respective areas, parties that are on, DJ's and performers looking for gigs and links elsewhere, it could be very helpful for the people involved in the music industry side of things

I think dubstepspace.com just did what you should've done with it really...they flagged it up here today coincidentally.

Hold onto it until the above make you an offer cus I can't think of a thing to do with it that they won't. Unless you are a producer ofcourse.
