beginner to making dubstep help/tips/software etc.

ok im totally new to making this.

so I was wondering what software is good for beginners? alot of people tell me that Fl Studio is good for beginners but is useless in the long run. so should I start with it?

also should I buy any hardware? Id appreciate alot of help just unload as much info as you can on me.

note: im a percussionist/Saxophonist

so many to pick from but id have 2 say reason

fl is sick aswell but out of the box reason can do 30 of wot fl can but it sucks for recording audio and as ur a sax player a nice reverbed sax would be great on a dubstep tune

dam i love the sax sounds so gawjus (hold tite kenny g)

for a beginner?hmm..
reason, soundforge(for recording etc...)
you dont need hardwares...there are lot of things you have to learn before you get your limits in softwares.
and you need a good monitoring system, or at least high quality headphones!

check out renoise. it's damn near free and although it looks hard to get your head round is probbaly the quickest way of building beats i've come across. i only bought ableton 7 recently and still find myself living in renoise instead.

get a couple of COmputer Music magaazines as well if your in the Uk/can get your hands on them. They come with a tonne of free synths and effcets and have really provided me with the kick up the bum i needed to get started.

Oh and KVR Audio is an awesome place for picking up tips, as is Sound on Sound magazine. For a couple of powerful yet cheap hosts to use your VST's in you might wanna look at Reaper and Energy XT.

go try out some demo's. its more to do with what suits you best, rather then literally what is the best, its all our own preference.

nearly all sequencers/softsynths will have demos you can download from their websites
