Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?

Not interested in the majority of tunes on this mix, Chestboxing remix included. Am I alone? Simple halfstep beats and distorted synth basslines nearly the whole way through. I haven't been listening to much Rinse lately except for Skream's October 10 set, which is pretty much the same. Is this the sound of now?

You might well be mate. i think this most exciting side of dubstep. tunes that get you bouncing around like an angry ape at a rave or in your bedroom. Not interested in the majority of tunes on this mix, Chestboxing remix included. Am I alone?
Foot through the Floor.
what kind of stuff do you like anyways?
I think in other threads it's been reduced to "wobbler/halfstep oversaturation" or "masculine vs. feminine".. so many people these days are making tunes with the exact same goal in mind: to boast the gnarliest bassline. It goes over well at a club so they'll make it, and enjoy the fruits of their labor.
I like music that surprises me. Tunes and producers that explore unfamiliar (and often interesting) techniques and sensations. For a while the "tuffer-than-thou" bassline was novel, but I'm always looking to see what else there is. I put in my two cents because not too long ago I was really into what N-Type and Benga had going on. Invasion EP? Yum. Sub Sundays a year ago? Wow. This set? Erm.... it sounds like many producers have stopped experimenting and have settled on one specific sound, which makes me sad.
On the upswing, there is a good amount of forward-thinking stuff going around at the mo - there's just more crap to sift through to find it.

Forgot to say that this one doesn't sounds like Locus Lotus to me but its in the same tip, utterly tech-number murderation, as N-Type said brand spanking new.djrobyn wrote:04.Headhunter - Locus Lotus
