The Lexxus @ GC Spinoff Prelims '05

Post by the lexxus » Tue May 02, 2006 10:30 pm

Guitar Center does an annual turntable competition, and this was @ the Preliminaries.
I won this competition, but was defeated @ the finals.
The intro was unfortunately cutoff of this video.

& no Dubstep in this comp, but the next 1 for sure...

So Dubstep fans are not into Turntablism?

I find that hard to swallow... -q-

im into turntablism, and i respect the fact that you entered a dj battle, mixed and posted the video online.

i just didnt think the video was all that great.

your scratching was pretty decent. being ambidextrous won some points, but nowadays, kids are sick with the whole artform. throw some beat juggles in there and you might start breakin through the regionals.

no offense, just my opinion.

The video was shot on my girlie's phone, so the quality is about as good as it gets on a cell.

I come from a mixing background, scratching has always been something of an growing aspiration for me. I'm always practicing, always learning. I didn't enter to win, I just wanted to be respected for my artistry.

I got killed in the finals by versed Turntablists who do nothing but scratch and juggle all day long, not mixing.

When I went to QBert's a couple years back, I could hold my own on the octagon, but when it came my turn to provide the beats, they all tripped out that I could match beats and program well. Go figure.

But thx 4 the critique, no offense taken. :D
