Why do producers take so long?

Post by dubstepper » Sun Jan 13, 2008 5:05 pm

This really gets to me, the fact that most producers take so long to bring their tunes out. I mean dont get me wrong obviously they aint going to make a tune then release it straight away, coz then peps wouldnt lock in to radio as much or go see the djs live. But come on producers some of you take the piss releasing tunes, its like a certain tune gets rinsed for like at least6months if not a lot more b4 its released. By the time it is released i find im allmost bored of it i.e benga coki night. Or just dont feel it as much as i did. That 1 reason i dont listen to too much radio coz i end up getting bored of hearing the tune for 9months or whatnot. Clouds under the danceing feet is 1 of my favs, but i have heard it so much over radio that when it finaly hits the shops it just wont have the same great inpact on me. Unlike Caspa and Rusko King George which i first heard on ordering it the other day, so im happy thats 1 tune that is still fresh for me. So come on producers us record buyers surport you, so try surporting us a bit more and give us some big releases just a bit sooner. My rant is over im a bit shit at wording things over the net typing but im sure you will all feel what im trying to say

I think there are many reasons many of which have been spoken of before.

Producers often don't release their own stuff but even if they do the logistics behind releasing the record are sometimes hard to overcome.

You only have to look at plasticians release to realise that he probably would've preferred it to be less exclusive and on general release a good 6 months ago at least.

What has the release date got to do with the producer. They make beats, a label picks them up and they get released. When a producer hits export their job is done (apart from throwing a few dubs around)....It is very frustrating for producers who want their music out and heard who have to wait months (or years!!) to actually get tracks out...This is because labels have release schedules and stuff to come out before yours and that's just life....The tunes time will come.

DJs promote tracks and hopefully create hype around a track and occassionally this can last too long before the release but that is life....I suppose the answer from where you are would be for labels to sit on tunes and only release the dubs to DJs a couple of months before release but then you will always be hearing tracks that producers wrote months before rather than the fresh stuff......

Enjoy what you hear on shows and buy what you like....if you aren't into the process then don't go to clubs and don't listen to the radio and then the first time you hear tracks it will be on Boomkat/Redeye and it will be fresh to you.
To book for a live/DJ please email threnody@threnody.co.uk

Big Dada / Slime / Red Volume / Creative Space / Urban Graffiti / Dubkraft / Rottun / Combat / UK Trends / L2S / Furioso / Yellow Machines

It does just smack a bit of laziness man :? Prolly why there was a small spate of come backs

I myself dont know much about the process of releasing a tune, but I think if I did want to find out, id look it up myself rather than hoping someone can do it all for me.

Anyway, BOVVERED?!

Lazyness what you on about? So when some1 posts whens so and so tune coming out i dont see loads of peps sayin, well if u want to find that out why dont you look in to it yourself. Just some peps on here just have to act like a know it all/ wanker, n b4 you go getting all high and mighty on me im not talkin bout you

didn't think I was being too harsh, i wasn't rude to you

but yeah, releasing a tune takes money and effort, and every seperate part of the process can potentially be delayed. aside from that a lot of the time you'll be hearing a tune on radio months before it's even been signed

here's loads of threads on dubplate culture, which obviously includes the reasons why not everything gets released straight away/ever:

www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=32583 (most recent)

www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=121 (old one!!)

www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=5405

www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=5225

www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4210

I used the Search funtion, searched for "dubplate culture" and used the 'search for all terms button' and found these amongst many others. There's loads of information on this forum about this subject, all of which is there to read if you use the Search function properly.

Having read some of that, you wouldn't have had to post this thread - which is why people have given you a bit of a ribbing.
