I myself have a shameful collection of early jump-up dnb records that I wish I never brought, but they opened me up to more experimental as the formulas got too restrained and tired. I'd find myself in soho every week digging in the crates for old Headz, Reinforced and Cert18... and as I've got older I learnt to understand we're not all the same. I've still got friends who come round and tell me to stop listening to my rubbish 'garage' when all it is, is a Burial CD.
If a funny old world, but it wouldn't be the same if we all liked the same thing. I'm open to the directions and possibilities dubstep can take as now dnb is coming full circle for me. Its having a 10 year turn-around where the music is slowly being stripped back and going back to basic elements; much like a lot of the good dubstep thats around at the moment is. And it's all good!
I'd say the dubstep genre is becoming more and more saturated.. alot of 001 appearing of late.. but its not a bad thing. I see this with dnb day in day out and the kids love it. So if us old blokes ain't feeling it.. leave it to kids to sift through and get bored of - as they will only progress and learn from it...
don't get me wrong I"m still very protective of my opinions on what dnb and dubstep is.. but at the end of the day you like what you like. People will take what they want from it. We live in a sampling culture where we demands things quickly... like fast food it'll satisfy you for a while but your soon progress to higher expectations.

But I do think that creativity is rife, there is nothing LIKE the retreat into limiting the rhythmic variation of the sound that happened to d&b circa 1996/7. Yep there are imitators making bare plodding wobblers but when you've got prople like 2562, Peverelist - and loads of great unreleased producers like Fnordy and Asusu (just to name new people I've heard in the last 2 months alone) - pushing the spacious/electronica sound in new directions, Caspa & Rusko taking the lairy side of things as far as possible, and a load of people doing interesting stuff with varied and unorthodox vocals at the moment... not to mention total one-offs on the fringes of dubstep like Cloaks, Geiom, Shackleton, The Bug, Kode 9 and such.
One of the vital reasons D&B lost it for me was losing touch with the importance of sub bass, something which I personally blame on cocaine taking over as the dominant drug (dunno why but in ANY style of music, masses of chisel makes people turn the treble right up) - and that's something that dubstep is unlikely to do because the dub/soundsystem element to it is right there in its make up.
Of course the real answer if you feel that not enough people are making the innovative stuff is "fire up the PC and get making the tracks you want to hear!"
