Honestly, make whatever shit you want. Tweak waveforms until blood comes from your ears. When you hit that point, you KNOW you've got a good sound.

I'm pretty much a beginner at synth programming, but this is quite simple to do and good fun.

Basically take any synth with a square waveform, if there is a unison function, set that to around 3, and detune slightly.

Chorus is good, as is a tiny bit of distortion, and sometimes ring modulation.

You can then use EQ if you want to cut the bottom out and layer some sinewave subs underneath to make it a bit heavier sounding, or add some nastiness by scooping out bits or gently boosting others.

little bit of portamento / glide also helps.

Basically take a square wave and fuck with it til it sounds good

For grimey basslines?

Guy wasn't asking about wobble (out to you for not doing that by the way, the ham touching epidemic has gone too far)

Although generally for subs sines are what you need.
