I've got a secret one of antisocial from that night. Only reason it's works though is because I think the flash from (possibly) your camera is going off in the foreground! If it was yours - cheers!
Unintentional joint effort lol!

How long do you leave the shutter open for then? Sometimes Ill get in a mood and try 3 seconds..but at the dubstep awards night a big light streaked over bengas face lol... :(

Im no one to bitch or moan, but that was the perfect opportunity to do some HDR photos!

I saw a guide on how to do it (requires bracketing (3 shots at different apt's)) and it produced some stunning effects!

depends what I'm after.

at mass in particular, it's damn near impossible to get a non blurred image of the DJ without using flash that isn't really dark.

the cleanest results have usually been when i've used 1600 asa. then you can get away with, at most, 1/30 (1/15 if you're particularly steady handed, which I'm not.... :( ), at full aperture. even then, that's going to be pretty dark unless you get lucky with one of the lights inside the club.

long exposures really depend on the asa (is it 'iso' in digital?) and f stop. it's up to you. Usually, I deliberately muck about and see what happens. do it often enough and getting a decent image (as a starting point) almost becomes second nature. What I can't do without though is one of those mini-flexi tripod things. It helps alot! :)

Please have a look at my blog for some long exposure stuff I've done (although I've got a thing about artificial light so i don't need to expose for that long).

there's a turner prize nominee from last year called Darren Almond. Some of his photos are on display at the White Cube in Hoxton. He shoots in the dead of night with his Hassleblad and apparently he leaves the shutter open for about 1hr :o The results end up looking like he's shot during daylight, except for the fact that the 'daylight' effect is this creepy 'half light' sort of look.

Municiple - dunno quite why, but this one really caught the eye! Nice one!

Yeh I just did a quick google. Longest I can leave mine open for (not a SLR or anything) is 30 seconds which isnt bad!

I think I need to get into this more!
