Most internet forums mainly populated by men are pretty stupid and sexist at times. Horses for courses.

Nonsense, all it takes is practice honey!

Beat-matching that is.

:D

I've come across some boys club -attitudes myself, mostly just people being bitter and saying dj stuff isn't for women cause they can't play or that they get booked only cause they've got tits.

But then again I've also been supported and encouraged very much, which actually meant a lot in the beginning. And still does, of course. In general I think people have been quite positive about it.

true dat. it's comfortable shoes all the way for me.

and in response to western synthetics: i don't think it's hip hop that is the influence, i think it's the patriarchal system in general that affects everything.

granted, most of the dubsteppers i have run into have been fairly cool, but it's a system all of us are socialized into, and unless we really take a look at our actions and how we were socialized to think...then we will keep finding the same issues over and over again no matter where we go.
Of course, we live a system that condones and perpetuates sexism in the pursuit of profit, the "booty bling Hip hop" is just a symptom of this system.

Good thing what we have to live in, and what we choose to live by are two different things :)

Joking aside, you've got to give it up to any female DJs out there because there's probably twice as much pressure on them not to be shit when they get in front of a crowd of monomaniacal men who listen to Rinse FM 365 hours a day.
werd, corpsey- i certainly feel the pressure not to be shit... fortunately I thrive under pressure ;)

Ain't so bad anyway, I think every DJ (yeap even the boys) should at least try not to be shit, don't you think?

haha! how exactly DOES a girl DJ though anyway?

yes? huh somebody say my name??? lol respek due to da queens and empress dem! runit!!
