good music is good music. genres are non-existent barriers.
Exactly man, we play mostly dubstep but do drop abit of grime, hip hop or d'n'b quite regularly or wot ever else is floatin our boat at the time.

Please please move to Friday for non london heads

I'd be very interested to hear a lot of dubstep producers/djs playing what they like outside of dubstep...

We been doing this on Streamizm the last couple of weeks, seems to be going down fine even with my atrocious mixing

We've got to sort this in the summer!!!! Been pondering it for 2 years now :D

I've been loving the variation of genre's on the last few streamizm shows and its been inspired by DOTs in part. Seeing people play the music that has influenced them from older times is great - Hijak playing jungle, Ntype playing oldskool, Loefah playing hardcore... can't beat it! Get down there!

When we haven't got guests playing on the streamizm show from now on 1st hour is gonna be late 90's DnB focusing on a particular label, 2nd hour new Dubstep and last hour whatever the hell comes out the bag ;)

Big up Shonx, last 2 weeks have been great! Tom Waits and Model 500! :D

^ yeah definitely..my music taste is all over the board so I tend to appreciate these sort of shows more, and also discover a fair few tunes i haven't heard before, or had forgotten about.

spun jungle d&b champion for ten years exclusively since 94 prior to that hip hop dub/reggae , dance hall , ska , acid jazz , trip hop , soul/funk classics , U.K. soul r&b but the last 4 years It's been a mix up dubstep , steppers dub , dub , dance hall , jungle d&b all these sounds are relative to me and one another but all these scenes/communities are so insulated from one another where as I'd like to hear it all in a night each community seems bent on polarization , what's a selector to do . :|

It is in my eyes important to remember that the original "club djs" could do this.
Im talking bambaataa and kool herc styles. They picked some breaks from here and there and kept the vibe but they didn´t even have a genre sorted out yet . . .
I mean kraftwerk, yellow magic orchestra and the all mighty amen break wasn´t something that everyone played in the early 80´s was it ?

To me the whole point of mixing up the styles is to keep the vibe going, evolving!
Don´t need to flip the vibe to change genre. You can fine tune the vibe even more in my eyes.

I play what I feel. If I like the tune and it fits in my set, it'll get spun. No long ting

Wouldn't necessarily go that far. This sorta thing goes down well on a Sunday sesh though, will look into seeing if there's a place up for doing it down here in the summer (there's quite a few of this sorta thing going on anyway, but we'll see). Not a moneyspinner, but always fun in a "let's get stinkin drunk and stick tunes on" way :D
shonx! get ur arse to the next Tramps. Freebies at hector's on sundays. we're getting the sunday slagfests started up again! We did a few volks ones too in the summer - was the best way to spend a sunday when feeling a bit delicate! Maybe a collaboration? I am still campaigning for a Battle of the sexes night/day with boy girl b2b sets. Lozzer is game for it too :D

Can't mix for shit (see Streamizm for details), but if it's just tune for tune biz then yayuss, well up for it.

Not battling cause I know you have Georgie Fame, and nothing beats that

hehe :D have you actually made it to one of our nights? the non free party ones that is (the free party ones-i presume most listeners are too spannered to actually hear our mixing quality!) Florence is actually up for dj'ing... he has been wanting to do an eclectic set :D
Personally i am fancying a bit of oldschool jungle so will be raiding his collection!

If you're really nice to me, i'll let you borrow the georgie fame :P
