GLASGOW : BIG : Fri 22nd Feb : Ivy : FREE!

Post by splashy » Wed Feb 20, 2008 8:56 am

Right you joyless f**ks, after the hammering rinse out that was our launch night back in January, BIG round 2 is up!

Each month sees a different genre get the BIG treatment, and this time we're going to be massaging your quality-starved, progeria-infested ear canals with some classic 60s/70s psych, death-blues and krautrock.

The line up looks something like this...

RVSPVTIN (DJ Set) ::

Those of you familiar with Glasgow's greatest record shop ('Monorail', King's Court) will no doubt have met and been subject to Russell Elder and his rants about obscure Turkish Psychedelia and glacial Krautrock grooves. Expect joyous, fuzz-baked 60's/70's psych freakouts, tighter-than-shrink-to-fit-jeans power-jams and sweet, hazy guitar-fuelled abandon.

A must for fans of Can, Cluster, Pink Floyd, Fushitsusha, Dead C, 13th Floor Elevators, Blue Cheer, Red Krayola, Ash Ra Temple, Hendrix etc.

GODOT & LEAH MILLER-BIOT (live) ::

3rd collaborative performance between English visual artist / filmmaker Leah Miller-Biot and Irish noise-monger GODOT. Abstract DIY visuals meets laptop, Tibetan Prayer Bowls, electric razors, ebow and a host of busted electronics. It'll be largely improvised, so it'll be a total one-off. Prepare for some skull-huffing, overtone-heavy blissful drone ascension.

GODOT and Leah have played together at the Close Projects Festival 2007, and GODOT has previously worked with the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and performed at the Edinburgh Festival 2007.

THE FRANTIC ANT (DJ Set) ::

'Killer Kitsch' and 'Basement' resident bringing the filth to the unsuspecting public! Anyone who witnessed his back-to-back set with Splashy The Blame-Shifter at the last BIG event knows what to expect - heaving drops, insane hooks and an almost OCD obsession with bass immersion. Total rinse out.

Again, the whole shebang won't make your wallet any lighter, and will be over by 12 so you can crawl back to your beds nice and early!

Those of you up for continuing the party can join us for a post-BIG rinse out in the Glasgow School of Art, where Mungo's Hi-Fi will be hooking up with Warrior Queen for some deep dub/reggae/skank bone vibrations - 8 bass bins in a room the size of your living room - unreal.

Anyway, hopefully see some of you there. The room is kinda wee, so get down for doors at 8.30pm!

Hopefully the Ivy's sub will be well and truly busted by the end of this one.

Rinse out.
