^thats what the danish newspaper editor said as well. we live in a world of cultural misunderstanding and volatility, where anything can be taken out of context once it goes global. you're playing with fire. you should have a read at this.

we're not going to risk having this site hacked or shut down over your one photoshop. by allowing it, it looks like we condone it.
we have global membership. more than 30% of our membership is from non english speaking countries, where you posting it as a joke, couldn't possibly translate clearly.

we never discuss these things. why do you need to know more besides people being offended?

we're a public community. now and then; community discussion is critically important for issues as big and volatile as this.

regardless of whether you're for religion or against it, the nature of the internet just doesn't convey all of the dozens of multicultural issues involved in discussing it. people that want to convey their religious fervor should do it on a blog or something similar.

there are times like this when the moderation should be discussed openly so that we don't go down roads like this again and hopefully people find common ground as a community.

it's the same way that you wouldn't run down the road by your house screaming obscenities at your neighborhood. somewhere along that road, someone's going to get in your face about it, and then thereafter you'd think twice about doing the same thing again.

no problem with deleting it, i understand how it could stir up controversy and as i said i didn't realise the possible connotations when i posted it.

not quite sure why you're comparing it to the posting of purposely inflammatory cartoons in a national newspaper, my photoshop was meant to show a large group of people worshipping a ham and nothing else (i've just noticed how ridiculous that last part is- i think i need to re-evaluate my life)

in summary- perspective required in my opinion

Im surprised to see none of you ham-ninjas have mentioned Madrid, the capital of ham...
I ate here for the whole week, its called "Museo del Jamon" (World of ham)
and those things on the walls are actually glazed hams. The hams are served as and when they are needed and any ham taken from the wall is replaced by a fresh ham which will sit there till it looks a bit manky and is ready to be served itself. Basically you are never more than 5 feet from a ham while you are eating. It is an amazing place, I firmly suggest it to any ham-fan;

Also when we were there my mate was a veggie, and the waiters didnt know what to do cos there arent many veggies in Spain so they just kept giving him massive plates of chips (which were probably cooked in ham fat anyway).
