Adjustment of pitch gain (Technics)

Post by furiouz » Wed May 17, 2006 3:11 pm

I know one can get approx +-15% pitch gain by adjusting something inside the 1210. Has anyone actually done this and does it work?

i've personally never been able to get more than +/- 13, or less than about +/- 4. not tried this on an original 1200 or mk5, and obviously this isn't necessary on an m5g..

remove platter, unscrew and take off plastic cover, look for a light blue, round, philips-head fly-screw labeled 'pitch' towards the top right on the main circuit board. crank it up or down as desired...

or if you really like to tinker, try this:

I did this to my mkII's a few years back. It works wonders, but in the long run, the pair do not match up anymore. I've tried to balance them by ear, but I now need to pay a certified tech to do it because one of the screws is stripped. When I play doubles the left deck is @ +4, while the right deck is @ +4.6. Its pretty frustrating when I'm rehearsing a battle set. Anyone know of any lit on this, or a tech in Northern Cali? -q-

These might help you lexxus. I had to shift my pitch on an mk2 because it was out when i bought it. I dont think it was too tricky, but i didnt have any stripped screw troubles.

you can match the techs real easy by removing the plastic cover and putting the platter back on, and adjusting the pitch range through the holes of the platter. dots on the side of the platter should appear to be standing still at pitch adj. levels indicated next to the power button/dial.

edit: just saw those links... same info in there and more - nice1! i find all other mods pretty useless... but there is one more good one: to turn off quartz lock (which i have never found a need for at all). essentially it's the orange wire that goes to the pitch control, if that one gets cut/disconnected, then the light will still come on, and the annoying click will also still be there, but quartz lock does NOT actually engage and you can accurately pitch between -0.4 to 0.4 or so - handy! :)
