granular synthesis

Post by coi » Fri Feb 29, 2008 4:12 pm

I'm curious to know if there is some step by step process of creating a granular sound without using a plugin like this one http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1160.html ??

The reason i ask is because i can't seem to find this plugin anywhere...i can't even buy it... Are there any others out there that deal with granular synthesis?? I love the sound...i love the process of this type of sythesis...

It's part of the Nautilus bundle on their website.

Also try Grainz http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2159.html
(free)
or CrusherX http://www.kvraudio.com/get/729.html
(reasonably expensive but was rather good when I tried it back in the day)
or get Reaktor (distinctly expensive but basically the daddy) and scour the user libraries - granular seems to be one of the things that Reaktor heads really go nuts for.

I would suggest getting a copy of reaktor5, there are many wierd and interesting granular synths available for it! And one of the built in granular fx is amazing it's called grainstates.
It moves you!
