I did not mean to get you riled whitebait. I was just trying to make a point in good humour.

This is all a non-issue until one of the producers has something to say. The argument has two strong sides to it, and us debating it wont really change much. Its up to the creators to decide.

As for myself:

Yes, I did download the file and yes I do also have those tracks on vinyl. So I dont feel so guilty.

all G CEDE. I just put myself in the other artist shoes and know it wouldn't fit too well with me. If the producers haven't given out free shit before then they pretty much decided they aren't going to and I doubt if they'll be wanting to air their laundry in here. Maybe Gutters readerships been flaggin and a bit of controversy never hurts. It might backfire though if the pre release demos suddenly dry up. Who knows. I'm over it. Cheers

I reckon it might have something to do with tempa being an ammunition imprint and tied to the ever forthcoming, still in the pipeline new and improved dubplate.net
exactly- but believe me when i say when i set up bleep/road i tried and tried to get tempa on board.

Not trying to go off topic, BUT

take the piss - to make a joke about someone or to make someone look silly. Have I really won or is this a piss-take?

-Courtesy of "thefreedictionary.com/piss-takes"

Please elaborate.

When I first heard the term "I got bare dubs today...", I thought, "bare - lacking in amplitude or quantity"; I was like what the fuck, did someone steal his records?????

It's funny we speak the same language ,but often I haven't a clue

I started buying vinyl BECAUSE gutter had mp3s on his blog (albeit low quality versions). For example, I now have all Skream releases (except for BAM007).

I'm not saying this is right or wrong, but it works both ways, I think. No need to worry too much.

i just wrote a shitton oh words but i think DAF has said it well enough.
mp3s are promotional tools. Look at South London Buroughs EP. out on bleep. now getting repress...
Radiohead's Kid A, and Hail to the Thief. Each leaked before realeased and each outsold all of radiohead's previous release. same with modest mouse's latest.

dont think it would be so bad if some of these tunes that weren't for sale anywhere were available for the public to stream. library style get me

More and more people getting Serato Scratch and shit like it, they won't buy vinyls they'll just download what you ripped and play that without the artist getting any money.
serato scratch live is for playing dubs when you can't afford to cut yourself dubplates. it saves you from having to use cumbersome cdjs, it saves your back (literally) from lugging heavy vinyl around, and it saves your vinyl from giggin wear and tear. it's a tool, and any tool can be abused/misused, but your usage of the tool does NOT predetermine that its application will be harmful to the scene/artists/music. it's called 'progress', don't fight it...

... slightly off-topic, but just thought i'd toss that out there. :)

putting them at 320s is basically saying - play these tracks out

you don't need 320s for say home listening or on ipods etc

not really the best step forward...

Same as Final Scratch. Work as a mp3 "vinylplate" on your turntable which means you can scratch, cue, pull up etc, etc... I'm not really into this idea... :?

I would have never heard dubstep if not for mp3. I would still be listening to old Photek dnb . After getting some tunes off mp3 I went and dropped $600 on vinyl at Breakbeat Science the next week. That said, a passable set of tables isn't that much money. There are enough places in the US now that sell dubstep that you can get a 12 for about what you would pay for a CD - if you don't like the shipping then buy five at a time and save on it.

I think when you listen to a track you gotta remember somebody bled for that, sat locked in a room for days making minor adjustments to create that. So if you feel it, you need to get out your Visa, doesn't matter if your a poor student, if we all take that attitude then there won't be any tunes to download anymore because all of our favorite artists will be working at McDonalds trying to make a buck.

Regarding..... buying records from the UK (being from the U.S.) is f'n expensive. The exchange rate is almost 2/1. I ordered records for £16 from the UK the other day. After shipping and conversion.....it cost me $34.00.

This has nothing to do with mp3's ......just stating that because of how strong the £ is..... it definitely effects us people overseas buying records.

Check this http://www.texasdnb.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9077 there are a couple US distributors who handle dubstep.
