He wouldn't because everything on Hotflush can be bought as an mp3. Not everyone has a turntable.UFO over easy wrote:Paulie - would you still feel like that if Gutta had given away old Hot Flush bits on 320?

init ricky.RickyRicardo wrote: It seems like everyone's argument for Gutta seems to go back to how much he's done for the scene....but what about how much those artists have done for the scene, only to have 320 versions of their tunes posted on someones blog w/o their permission? I don't understand why Gutta somehow gets a pass for doing this kinda thing, that would get average joe blogger reamed into next Tuesday...
this is a joke! im out

I'm working hard on two jobs to earn my cash and i really think about it when i spend it. But just because i don't have any money, or not enough, doesn't mean i nick things i desire but just can't get. I'm not the biggest record buyer, say 5 a month because i'm very picky about 'my' sound i spin on the decks.clone.A.K. wrote:rinse thieves???brklss wrote:Fuck all the MP3 sharers. It's about the music. About crawling your record store. About hearing the tunes in mixes. Fuck the new world. Fuck thiefs.
what you sayin'?
you must have some money.
Anyhow. Why do people always think that if someone who isn't into Dubstep would find Gutterbreaks Blog? Saying that i want to show that just because of running a blog about some kind of music doesn't mean that it's the starting point of every newcomer to Dubstep. My way to Dubstep went through grime music over friends and i found that Blog way after i got in touch with Dubstep.
I just can say that every artist and label who feels pissed is so damn right. This is not supporting the scene or anything. It's utter shite and in the end, against everyone.
There's a lot of shit talk here from nobodies with opinions about everything.

And now his blog has diminished into just a few flyers and nothing else. Nice one people.

now that's what I'd call a piss take. Should be named and shamed imo - especially if they're hypocrites who've posted in this thread preaching the anti mp3 gospel.seckle wrote:autonomic wrote: I've seen members of this board on very high-traffic filesharing sites distributing material taken directly from Bleep.com.
And I go with what Deapoh just said ^^

Fucking hell. Go offline for 48 hours and the internet doesn't hang about does it. I sincerely hope Gutter's blog isn't down for good - that would be a tragedy for music lovers.
As has been mentioned, I'm sure a ton of people on here are sharing tracks they've downloaded from sites like Bleep via p2p apps. IMO, Gutter giving away a limited batch of rips is nothing in comparison to this.
We live in the mp3 age - there aren't hard and fast rules for this kind of thing. When, some months back, I copied 90gb of mp3s off a friend (I killed my harddrive, with my entire digital music collection), I didn't feel any remorse - basically because I've spent a truckload of money on vinyl over the years. I saw Gutter's link go up and was pissed off I couldn't download it at the time because I didn't have broadband - I really wanted to see what was in that selection. Turned out I've got all the tracks but one on vinyl anyway, but yeah, would have been nice to have copies on my harddrive too. However, if I didn't have these tracks on vinyl, I would have searched them out and bought them after hearing them. End of story.

I'm comin in late but just want to add my thoughts...
Classic track exists on limited release vinyl. Vinyl sold and gone. Track not repressed and not released to legit MP3 site.
Fans of track are out of luck forever? They must endlessly listen to forum references to said classic track or only hear it mixed in homebrew mixes?
Why is this stuff not fair game after the tracks are a few years old and there are no plans for rerelease?
It leaves a bad taste in my mouth for the artists to basically say "Sorry! you didnt buy the wax and you can never hear it any other way! Ever!"
And i think it sucks to lay some global guilt trip down on a true fan who just wants to hear the cut and would be more than willing to put some money down if there was only a place to put it.
I think banking old tracks and never letting them see the light of day after a 500-1000 press is bullshit...
my 2 cents as someone who owns a vinyl copy of EVERY SINGLE ONE of those tracks Gutta uploaded.

That used to be the way it was. I don't see why, just b/c there is an internet and lossy compression formats, people suddenly feel as if they have a right to acquire and consume whatever they want by any means necessary. There are 'nuff tunes I wish I had on vinyl, but simply can't get. Tough! There are tunes people reference all the time that I've never heard (specifically, alot of El-B tracks), and may never ever hear...but I don't think that's a bad thing.bOa wrote: Fans of track are out of luck forever? /insert rant about the problem of instant gratification in mass culture
I think it's a bit early to say that these tracks were never ever going to be re-released. Projects like the one Martin's doing, could help bring back alot of those forgotten gems. But alot of this is a moot point since most of those tracks are still available on their original release. Why is this stuff not fair game after the tracks are a few years old and there are no plans for rerelease?
Anyway this will be my last post on this subject. Gutta, if you're still reading, while I don't agree w/ what you did I would love to see your blog return...
