sigh.
jealous.
if you don't know already go here for the best aka maru ramen on the planet:

Ippudo in Ebisu.
and here for the best bar in bar in the world (possibly):

Mood Trump in Shibuya. Doesn't open til 1am. You and your mate taking it in turns to slap each other as hard as you can will get you chucked out.

also known as the 'chandelier bar' or the 'red bar'.
asoboo.com/places/Tokyo/Shibuya/Chandelier
perhaps too many gaijin, but after however many Y300 drinks with non brand x liquor, it doesn't matter. get there early cos it gets rammo.

fuckit, i'm not anti-gaijin so might have to reach at some point. seems good for onea those "oh fuck, i missed the last train" kinda nights.....
....HOWEVER....
some dude on asoboo.com wrote:the male waiter has recently developed some sort of hate for foreigners, and has acted like he doesnt know how to mix drinks that he used to know (i mean white russian, come on), and has also actually chased people i know away from the bar if you even try and speak with japanese females.
fuck that shit! the drinks thing i can handle (just get a beer ffs!), however, i'm not down for catching a beating with a floor mop for simply exercising my libido.

lol - i know this guy.
he is always completely screwface.
but i guess if you had to deal with obnoxious and loud tourists who are convinced they're the shit, then i suppose you'd be screwface too.
i got on ok with him. being humble and appreciative, waiting your turn etc, got me in most japanese people's good books i found. in my experience, so many gaijin in tokyo were the complete opposite, so i guess it was refreshing for him to not have to deal with a foreigner who thinks he's a rock star purely by virtue of his being in tokyo.

Shinjuku is where Takashi Miike bases most of his yakuza films isn't it?

peepsles, japan really isn't as expensive as it's made out to be. yeah, it's pricey comapred to a holiday in myanmar or laos but compared to london it's dirt cheap. average train/tube journey costs £1, my monthly rent in a decent sized flat was £250, a meal out with pure food and alcohol (esp. alcohol) would cost on average £15 and if you time things right the plane tickets aren't even that bank breaking, my return ticket for the 27th cost £486 and if you time it right you can get returns for about £390. all those prices were for tokyo as well, go elsewhere and it gets even cheaper. the only thing that fucks up your wallet is clubs, a fairly standard entry fee on a friday or saturday is between £15 and £18.

there's a few i think but i haven't seen a lot of his more recent stuff so i'm not sure (the guys made about 50 films in the past 10 years

). the black society trilogy and ichi the killer are in shinjuku though. <3 shinjuku.

I have't really followed him either since Zebraman and some wierd supernatural swordsman film that I didn't finish watching.

yep this one's in shibuya
didn't really get too well acquainted with shinjuku.
spent more time getting far too well (read: 'obsessively') acquainted with akihabara.
