Tour of North West USA on a Bike > Seattle, a little late

Post by bert » Thu Mar 27, 2008 2:20 pm

Not quite sure how yet but I've managed to get a month off work to ride from Denver to Vancouver in May! WhooooO! I'm joining a mate who's already set off from Florida and is now tanking along the gulf of mexico coast.

Are there any stateside dubsteppers out there that are en-route that fancy coming along for a spin? I'll have serato and a harddrive stashed in the panniers for any impromptu rave ups in the Rockies :)

Route is gonna be something like this

Gonna stay in Vancouver for a few days at the end to recover, so if anyones about would cool to meet up there too!

DZ, Bowzer, XI, Matt... get over there!! First round is on me, if can still walk :D

:o

How many miles is that?

If there's any nice downhill bits, I'll fly over with my pimped out tricycle :D

Wow - I'm well jealous! You are going to have an amazing time.

If any jug eared boys try and banjo battle with you, you can just whip out the dubs.

That's pretty hardcore, should be good though, great way to take in all the surroundings.

I'm so jealous! One month for this distance looks like quite a relaxed ride, nice one! Have a good warm-up and even better ride :)

Yeah i reckon it should be good - will have a few spare days to check places out proper. Could prob do it in 3 weeks but wouldn't be much time for anything else.

bert! sounds amazing! just remember that some of those areas you've shown on your map are the rockies. be sure to see some altitude maps on that route. we're talking 9 to 12 thousand feet kind of thing.

biking at altitude is going to be no joke on the lungs. time to start training now i'd say.

Yeah man, I was just thinking about that... a good portion of that route is actually above 5000ft... most of CO, part of WY, the panhandle part of ID...

I hope you dont smoke cigs. :o

Yeah i been checking those climbs out on a few sites and reading peoples weblogs of cross-usa rides. Will be a challenge there's no doubt! I did 1000 miles in 2 weeks last year which went ok, but this is another matter!

The tricky part is gonna be getting over to Dubwar halfway through the trip to meet up with Kid .... ;)

No cigs, no weed, no drugs, just booze and women :D

Done quite a lot of riding in France over 1500m (not sure what that is in ft), but will be a different matter doing it for 2-3 weeks...

Thats about the same height give or take... you should be alright then if you train a bit before hand. I think the worst will be right when you start off in CO, near Brekenridge it gets up to around 8000 (roughly 2000m) and above and stays there till just after Vail into Grand Junction, then a slow decent until Utah...
