What's this production section for then?

There's nothing wrong with asking for tips and advice or discussing what makes tunes work, as long as you aren't depending on other people to just tell you how to do things. You won't get far like that.

Obviously it needs to mostly be down to you to work out yourself, but asking for help along the way isn't something to get angry at people about.

people keep signing up to the forum and posting in this section to take the piss out of people that have serious questions, then everyone just ends up arguing about dubstep.

realise that not everyone is intelligent/serious in their questions.

plus if you have real questions and use the search function they will more than likely be answered... theres no shame in copying drum patterns to teach yourself something but come on.. whats the point of trying to sound like someone else...

as for the hi-hat.. two different pitches are great.. percussion in almost all electronic or loop oriented music seems to be done with one sample pitched up and/or one pitched down. hiphop, house, dubstep, even traditional dub... and also using a flying pan on the hi-hats and taking the time to get the alternating to match the tempo... simple drum beats are always the best, its just a matter of having enough variance in your sounds within the beat that makes it interesting

oh and then if you dont know what triplets are you are fucked.

There is a search function on this website, maybe blokes should start using it instead of asking the same dumb questions over and over again.

I'm more inclined to the "figure it out yo damn self" line of thinking, but I understand there are people with legit "Production" questions. Things of a technical nature, not a "how do I make a phat bass line" bullshit. If you are having some issues with a plug-in or a DAW fucking up. Or advice on where to get software/hardware. What do you recommend for a compressor. I'll even understand a question on how to make a certain sound or how to crisp up a snare and shit. But to ask "how do I make that wobble sound"....well, shit like that been asked before.

perform a search, then ask the question if it wasn't answered. We are not your fucking mom, or your big brother that spins in a pub on Wednesday Dubstep/Wet t-shirt contest Night. Blah!

I knew someone would get a good giggle from that. In most towns (or in the states, major cities) have a Wednesday D'n'B night that someone's big brother dj's. I was counting on the probability theory, and it paid off.

I always buy one drink if I want into the place, even if its playing bogus tunes or the crowd seems a bit salty, if ya know what I mean.
