Gameboy / computer game sounds

Post by cracktactics » Tue Apr 01, 2008 4:27 pm

Does anyone know any good sample packs or maybe plugins for getting those classic synthy gameboy sounds?

I'm talking about those really old skool computer game sounds, the kind that crystal castles use. ( www.myspace.com/crystalcastles )

Cheers

i think that gameboys had a 4bit sound card...unless it was 8bit...

in anycase, as opposed to designing the sound (or looking for samples) a bit of a cheat here but a bit crusher effect will serve well for this type of thing i think (type of distortion), normally they have the option to reduce audio by bit rate...from 24bit to as low as 4 or 2bit
