i don't exactly see this forum being flooded with progressive house listeners, know what i mean?
Too right!

Some assumptions are just common sense, my friend.

Hate Recordings wrote:first time i ever heard tech step on a system, i swear to god i envisioned terminators and like post-apocolyptic future imagery. just like that begining scene in the movie, big futuristic tanks crushing fields of skulls, neon lights and burning cars. i saw the future and forgot that the past and present existed.
Someone told me a while back that Psy-Trance made them feel like they were "in the future".

...which I can understand, but that doesn't stop it being shite.

Too fuckin true, I like most music (well the good stuff) but psy-trance really is the shittest. Found years ago that psy-trance just makes me feel like punching the DJ, and I'm a pacifist. Think it's probably the fact that the music/dj's/fans all think it's more spiritual than it actually is.

Can't imagine when it would have been the future as it's been the same old bollocks for over a decade now.
Hmm....

LOL.

funny shit, man...

I was about to say drugs have a lot to do with it, but dubstep /jungle fans
aren't exactly averse to them either, eh?

Think I'd probably od before taking enough drugs to find psy-trance pleasurable. What a soul-destroying moment it must be to go half-way round the world, find a gorgeous beach, beautiful sunset, and then hear that half-arsed monkey toss being mixed by some "shamanic" over-earnest dj, whilst middle-class dropouts dance really, really badly to it.

No I don't like!!!!

      :P: :c:

P.S. I am not Eric Cartman, but he does have a point

Hard to pin an essential jungle ALBUM, cos its obviously about the mixes. Essential beginners mix I reckon has got to be the DJ SS Old Skool double CD mixes, classic after classic.

http://www.discogs.com/release/57408

Obviously the Soundmurderer Wired For Sound Mixes as well, all about them Remarc tracks.

I'm always surprised more people don't give thanks for T Power - The Self Evident Truth Of An Intuitive Mind

http://www.discogs.com/release/15455

Silver gives me chills whenever them first Amen's kick in, it's pretty out there for jungle, massively ahead of its time for 1995 (I can see Squarepusher being well influenced by this record). As well, when I first heard Toasty I though of this record (and Future Sound Of London too, bigstyle).

I'm not fussed with Timeless or New Forms, way too coffee table, even though I respect them as landmarks.

ps, wish they had ditched Photek on the Breezeblock on Monday night and put DJ SS there instead.

Ouch. The fact that the guy I was talking about fits that description really well disturbs me...
Used to go to public school; now has major dreds, a weed habit and a lot of copied london slang.

Gotta love it when stereotypes hit home. :)

Haha a bit of bile every now and again is quite refreshing.

Yeah why the fuck do so many trance fans feel the need to get dreads, i mean if it wasnt already ideologically charged enough to then conform to this huge 'yeah man......trance music, pass the bong' sterotype.....

Download some old Randall at Desire sets... Desire 94 is probably one of my favourite sets.

''The INCredible Sound of Drum N Bass' mixed and compiled by Goldie has some amazing tunes on it.

All about Dillinjas old stuff for me, that sounds like the peak of dnb/jungle to me. Favourite ever jungle tune has to be ''Dred Bass (Origin Unknown RMX)'' though.

Uniformity of non-conformity I guess - "rebellion" against the folks (whilst often living off them) plus looking "alternative" to your peers. I get the feeling that it's not even that rebellious as most of the parents seem to have been hippies/libertarians anyway ("no that's cool, Tarquin's just expressing his self against the "patriarchal oppressor").

I've got a lot of mates with dreads who thankfully don't suffer from this, but I know who you're talking about. Met a white "rasta" the other week, and there was a real awkward humour to it - thought everyone had seen Ali G by now - yah maaaan!!!

Its true they are not conforming against their peers in the widest sense (ie all of the young people their age) but thier actual peers (meaning friends and social groups) dreads in an act of conformity. Its like 'oh i like psy trance/jungle, better get some dreads'. It would be more rebellious for a psy trance listner to rock some reebok classics and a tracksuit in the face of their mates i rekon!
