New Luke Vibert ep

Post by casino addict » Fri Jun 02, 2006 8:16 am

Okay, before I get a roasting for being 'off topic', anyone checked this?

Undecided about the clips, though that third track sounds well heavy.

His old stuff was wicked but went a bit on the wonk with his Wagon Christ stuff a few years ago. He's definately back on track though.

The first stuff he ever put out was under his Wagon Christ alias, but I’ve not heard the more recent material. Those Rising High eps blew my mind back in the 90s. I love his stuff – borders on fromagecore from time to time, but his programming and production is consistently brilliant and he can turn his hand to literally anything.

I’m sure he did these tracks without consciously thinking about the grime/dubstep undercurrent – he just knocks shit out. Personally I reckon he did that Hawerchuck ep on Planet Mu too.

I loved Throbbing Pouch - one of my favourite LPs ever. He went really shit when he signed to Virgin and released utter cheese like Lovely.

Then he went to Ninja Tune and released Ataride which rocks in no uncertain terms. If you haven't got it, find it - its a 10 minute slo mo old school amen rinse out.

Yeah, great track. What’s even nicer is that he gives it away (along with a load of other great tracks), just here:

Mmm, interesting. The programming and general musicality of the track made me think it was Vibert. Perhaps Mike Paradinas or one of the breakcore massive then…? (g’wan Baz, give us another clue).

i reckon he's had some excellent stuff more recently, the yoseph lp has some wonderful moments, and the amen andrews 12s really hit the spot at some points. the wagon christ stuff ive found to be inconsistent though, sometimes very good, sometimes not at all. not massive on kerrier district though, a bit too much pastiche, not enough quality for my liking, much better off listening to some authentic italo
