From what i have heard they sound pretty good. Definately a big African influence going on. Sort of like a young version of Paul Simon (actually that sounds terrible)

Hmm.. African influence eh? Can't say I picked up on that, any tracks in particular you'd say?
I don't know Beta Band I don't think!? Any good?
Vamp rule though man, went off all my punk and what have you as I took my DJing more seriously over the years, all I listened to was House or Garage, but now I'm playing out frequently on top of radio, I can't really listen to H&G at home.. gota be in the mood for it, and am not usually.
ps. See this >>>

Vampire weekend are fucking brilliant, and one of their members has a side project called Discovery which is pretty kl too - more electronic stuff.

The Guitar sound is very West African. Especially on A-Punk

Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa is ridiculously african influenced. These guys are good, very unashamedly poppy without being too annoying and indie about it.
They are a bit "preppy" but their tunes absolve them 100%

cool to see some dsf peeps into this stuff. I saw these guys live earlier in the year before i had really heard their stuff and was impressed enough to get the album which was on constant play for about 2 weeks.

'Toned down' is the phrase - the one thing I don't like about them (based on their myspazz tunes) is that they always sound like their tunes are about to burst into full on Deerhoof / Animal Collective cheeseadelic bounceiness, but they're kind of holding it in in a detached New Yorky way.
Interesting stuff, though.
