Graphic Design Schools in Europe

Post by MissBrass » Fri Apr 11, 2008 5:26 pm

I am looking for a good school to go to, in order to learn and sharpen myself. I don't really care where, as long as the country is good when it comes to visas and so on ( I am a Brazilian citizen. )

Anyways, so far I've only found this school:

i have friends that got into this and said it was the most amazing time they've ever had ; fabrica. it's kind of like redbull music academy. you apply, they pay for everything, and you get to live and study in treviso, italy. owned and run by the benetton family and toscani himself.

i'm sure the prado has some sort of school linked up to it. i'd look into the scolarship schools because the euro to the dollar is nuts right now. good luck though.

also portugal would be an obvious one for you, and if you need more info, talk to conspira on this forum. he's mr. lisboa.

lol...sounds like he might have won a beauty contest.

Yes, I know about the euro. It sucks because I am not going to school in the us for sure. Theres absolutely not one respectable school. So to me, there isn't even a choice... so I must start with my research now.

i'm sure you can find a scholarship school in spain or around spain. i wouldn't move to bilbao though. that city is miserable.

bilao is a port city so think miami plus 5x the amount of docks, ships and mad pollution. it's a really foggy depressing town. i only went there to check the guggenheim and to see that side of the french coast which is amazing by the way. bibao is about 10 minutes from the border of france and st biarritz and all those cool french surfing towns.

should be enough info on the website, but i had a couple of italian mates that frequented this place, they dont pay you, but all expenses are covered for (not sure about travel! :? )
apart from that they said that there were various stages from top notch bods to go to, but its not actually a school, i'd say a rather elaborate course, but theyre are a few good uni's in italy, the guys who went to fabbrica were attending uni at bologna, wich is also heavy for that kinda stuff (bologna was one of the first uni's in the world)

might find something a bit more concrete here

it's a total mix of people that they select from all art forms, so you're all in classes with let's say architects, graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, etc. olivier toscani is the main guy behind it, and he puts out a magazine called colors.

it could lead to bigger things afterwards, because there's a big fabrica network that can help you when you get out. my two friends that went definitely benefited from it. one of them is now working for toyota in their ergonomics dept.

definitely apply. you never know what could happen. and besides, it's a small town 10 minutes from venice. 8)

Fabrica is a good choice in southern Europe.

Be very wary of the 'International' colleges, do a lot of research many are just set up for 'study abroad' programs and are appallingly shit even though they have great promotion.

I speak from experience.
