I drew the line and started calling it Dubstep in late 2003, mid 2004.

Tracks like 'Twis Up' were doing the rounds then.

I can remember locking into Youngsta and Distance's shows religiously.

Big old bump...

First dubstep tune I heard was Eskimo - Plasticman.

I thought it was the rudest tune I had ever heard! I pictured rude boi's in trackies nodding their heads slowly to the track.

Next track I heard after searching 'dubstep' in limewire was Midnight request line.

to be honest i didn't even know the names of the first tracks i heard, first ones i heard that i actually knew the name/artist of (this was quite a long way down the line from first hearing) were probably twis up, and request line

midnight request line and almighty father back in the early part of 06.
my body has been subject to the brutality of bass weight ever since.
i can't turn down the bass. the whole song is bass.

Kode9 + The Spaceape's album was probably the first stuff I heard. First stuff I was really into anyway. Then Benga's album Newstep and then pretty much everything.

First dubstep track I heard?

Babylon - Kode9

It's the first track on Dubstep Allstars Volume 1 and I picked up the CD on a whim when I found it in the used bin. Then about a year and a half later there's a Dubstep night here in Seattle. The rest is history and the Shift Dubstep crew in Seattle kills it on the regular.

Shit man, I remember that mix. Might well have been the first I downloaded as well. Can't remember if it was on gutterbreakz or the old dubstep.blogspot.com. Got the same responce off Neverland, it's been my favourite tune ever since.
I'd forgotten all about it, might go and have another listen.

DTL's mix on Gutterbreakz. First records I bought were the Grim Dub series. It went down hill from there.

Heard a few dubstep tunes over the years but never listened to them. The first I listened to from edge to label was The Widdler - High Grade (2nd link in my sig) and that was only a week or so ago. Tune is just 'HENCH'!
There are probably many more as good as this or better but as my appetite has now been whetted, I will be listening and not just hearing.
