Roll call: Shoosh THURSDAY (17th) w/ Benny Ill & Oneman.

Post by prancehall » Thu Apr 10, 2008 8:53 pm

So who's coming? It's Hanna from House Party's new night. Oneman is doing a special early dubstep and garage set I believe. I'm gonna play some Kode 9 and Martyn and maybe a bit of DMZ 01 & 02 action, but mostly just house tempo dancehall.

Full details of event have been posted here:

oh hello, whats this? looks like a jamming thursday night session... will check it out!

whats with the venue anyway? Visions Video Bar... sounds like some crazy 1980s vj club. like some guy with loads of excess coke money decided he was going to open up a concept bar with all the latest, top-of-the-line vision mixer technologies he could find...

they have tvs everywhere. last time i went they were showing a pretty gripping wildlife programme. think we will just be showing family guy dvds all night while the bass vibrates your face.

really great line up. I Caught Marcus Nasty play recently, expected to hate it tbh, BUT it was really great, dark housey grimey sorta stuff. Might reach this.

yeah, check this section of his show:
http://www.divshare.com/download/4225427-178

lots of grimey house tunes with buju banton samples. there is some dodgy US tunes in there, but he will be playing all UK stuf for us.

quite a lot of this music reminds me of the 4/4 mystikz stuff.

That sounds quite cool, cheers for finding that. You know any other stuff in this vein?

rinse have a mix cd of this uk house stuff mixed by supa d, but it's a bit too vocal in places for my liking.

every person needs a copy of "mr bean" by apple:

dunno if the 12" is still available anymore.

Yeah this Apple tune is pretty good, checked out some of his stuff after Blackdown's blog the other month. Think it still seems like a London thing though at the moment, cause I haven't seen this in any record shops down here. Any online shops stocking this stuff at the moment you know of?
Hmm....

haha, shame this isn't a week later when I'll be down in London, great line-up, should be a big night.

seeing my sister and niece from the 21st to the 27th so yeah, will sort something out.

And not to derail this thread too much, everyone should go to this, the line-up is sick.

The first three or so tunes, kinda dancehall-y, are neat. Was gonna ask about another tune too, but figured it out because it's on the Supa D CD. Fuzzy Logic - What Goes Around. Proper deep house vibes.

It's out on Invasion records. All the good stuff seems to be on Invasion records. You can ask Marcus about the rest on Thursday :P
